Navy INET Syllabus 2020, Exam Pattern, Selection process for 2020

INET (Indian Navy Entrance Test) is conducted by the Indian Navy itself. Indian Navy has introduced a New way of Joining the service as an officer. this is the 2nd time the exam is about to be held. Indian Navy has launched this selection process in 2019 and the first exam was held in September 2019. Navy INET Syllabus 2020, Exam Pattern, the Selection process:-

  • Application form begins for INET from 29.11.2019
  • Last date for applying online 19.12.2019
  • Admit card will be available in the last week of January 2020.
  • The exam will be held in February 2020

Navy INET Syllabus 2020

English:- Comprehension, Usage of Words, Sentence completion / Corrections, Punctuations,
Grammar, Vocabulary, Antonyms and Synonyms, Parts of Speech, Direct and Indirect Speech, Idioms, and Phrases, Active and Passive Voice.etc (Question paper will be designed to test the candidates’ understanding of English and workmanlike use of Grammar)

Reasoning and Numerical ability:-  Spatial, Numerical, Reasoning, and Associative Ability, Sequences, Spellings, Unscrambling, Coding and Decoding, Missing Numbers / Series Completion, Decimal Fraction, Ratios and Proportion, Average and Volume, Time and Work, Speed and Distance, Market Price, Cash Price, Expenditure Problems, Profit and Loss, Percentage, Factoring (LCM and HCF), Simple Interest and Compound Interest, Mensuration Formulas (Calculation of length, breadth or height of square, rectangle, cube, etc)

General Science and Mathematical Reasoning:- Nature of Matter, Universe, Electricity and its Applications, Force and Gravitation, Newton’s Laws of Motion, Work, Energy, and Power, Heat, Temperature, Light, Current, Magnetism, Metals and Non-Metals, Measurements, Sound and Wave Motion, Atomic Structure, Chemistry – Carbon and its Compounds, Periodic Table, Acids, Bases & Salts, Food, Nutrition and Health Physiology, and Human Diseases and Basic Computer Science Arithmetic Ability, Number Systems, Algebra, Basic Trigonometry, Geometry, Statistics, Probability, and Set Theory.

General knowledge:- history of India, Geography, Climate / Environment, Civics – Constitution of India, Art, Culture, Dance, Heritage, Religion, Freedom Movement, Important National Facts, Economics, Politics, Sports and Championships, Entertainment, Books and Authors, Awards, Defence and Wars, Geographical Neighbours, Countries – Languages, Capitals, Currencies, Common Name, Full Forms, Abbreviations, Eminent Personalities, National – Bird/ Animal/ Monuments/ Flower/ Anthem/ Sport/ Flag/ Emblem etc, Discoveries and Current Affairs.

The selection process of Navy INET for 2020

the selection process for the INET would be similar like all other ways of joining the defense as an officer like  NDA, CDSE, etc. there is also three phases of exam:-

  • Written Exam
  • SSB Interview
  • Medical Test

Candidates will have to clear these three phases of the exam in order to become Officers in the Indian navy. these exams are tough at their level.

Age limit for INET 2020

Written exam pattern of INET 2020

The question paper would be in four sections:-

  1. English
  2. Reasoning and Numerical ability.
  3. General Science and Mathematical Reasoning.
  4. General knowledge.

The candidate will have to pass each section to be considered for the SSB interview. Candidates would be called for the SSB interview as per their score in the written exams.

Eligibility criteria for INET 2020

Through INET you can join the three branches of the Indian Navy. and each branch has different eligibility criteria, educational qualification and age limit, etc. we will discuss each branch in detail:-

  1. Executive branch
  2. Technical branch
  3. Educational branch  

Executive Branch:-
In this branch, you can join the service as an  SSC observer, SSC Air Traffic Controller,  SSC Pilot, SSC naval armament Inspectorate cadre and SCC logistic, etc. and here SCC stands for Short Service Commission.

Educational qualification for the Executive branch of Indian Navy

  • Candidate must have 60% marks in 10+2 with physics and mathematics as compulsory subjects.
  • Candidate must have B.E/B.tech degree in any stream with minimum 60% marks.
  • And for the SCC logistic candidate must have a degree or diploma in finance, supply chain management or material management.

Technical Branch:-

Technical Branch is the backbone of any forces. In the  SCC Technical Branch, you can the service as a Mechanical engineer or Electrical engineer.

Educational qualification for the Technical Branch of Indian Navy

  • You must have a B.E or B.tech degree of Mechanical engineering or Electrical engineering in any stream.

Educational branch:-

This branch is for the Teacher or Instructor in the Indian Navy.

Educational qualification for the Educational branch of Indian Navy

  • first-class in master’s degree (Math/operational research with physics)
  • first-class in a master’s degree (physics and nuclear research)
  • first-class in a master’s degree (metrology/oceanology)
  • B.E or B.tech degree in computer science or computer engineering with minimum 60% marks

There are some other ways also to join the navy if you have some external certificates like CPL which Commercial Pilot license and COC Certificate of competency( merchant navy) etc. If you have CPL you can apply for the SCC pilot or if you have worked in the merchant navy as an officer and you have COC, you can apply in the general service or engineering department as per your qualification.
