Concise revision of the Module of SSB interview:-
In the Services Selection Board for Intelligence and Personality Test candidates for the Army/Navy wings of the NDA and 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme of Indian Naval Academy are assessed on Officers Potentiality. Those for the Air Force in addition to the above have to qualify Computerised Pilot Selection System (CPSS). Candidates with Air Force as one of the choice would also undergo CPSS if they qualify SSB and are willing to do so. The conducting board i.e. UPSC(upsc.gov.in) in most of the exams, after the written examination, it prepares a shortlist of the number of candidates eligible for the SSB interview. Before we elaborate documents required for SSB interview, let’s have a look of the process of the SSB interview;
Services Selection Board (SSB) organizes the Personality and Intelligence Interview held for five days during which each candidate’s potential and compatibility for commission into the Armed Forces of India is analysed by the Board. Following is a general procedure in tabulated format for the SSB interview held as a qualifying round in different Defence-related Examinations:-
SSB Interview pattern:-
| Day 0 (Day of Reporting) | The candidates have to verify their educational documents from assigned staff. Then candidates are allotted SSB board. |
| Day 1 (Screening Tests) | SSB is a two-stage process. To qualify for Stage II, a candidate needs to clear Screening Test or Stage I.
Candidates are given Intelligence Test (Verbal and Non-Verbal), then there is a Picture Perception test, in which a slide (hazy or clear) is shown for 30 seconds in this screening. |
| Day 2 (Psychology Tests) | The two tests performed in this examination are as follows;
-Thematic Apperception Test (TAT)- Commonly known as Picture Story writing. -Word Association Test (WAT). |
| Day 3 and Day 4 (GTO Tasks) | Group Testing occurs for the Officers (GTO) Test (Third and Fourth day) |
| Day 5 (Conference) | Assessor and the candidate sit together for and have a chat- the fate of the candidate for that SSB is decided by the Assessors collectively there. |
Note: The number of attempts for SSB interview is not limited by the Board.

Documents Required for the SSB Interview:-
Documents required for the SSB interview are given in the following list as below:-
- Matriculation or Equivalent Certificate for verification of your date of birth. [Certificates issued by the board concerned (CBSE/State Boards/ICSE)/ admit Card/ Marksheet/ transfer/ Leave Certificate etc in which date of birth is reflected are not acceptable proof of date of birth.]
- Intermediate/ 10+2 pass certificate.
- Marks Sheet of Matriculation or equivalent.
(d) Marks Sheet of Intermediate/10+2 examinations. - Semester/ Year wise independent marks sheets of Graduation/ Post Graduation.
- Valid Proof of Identity with photograph – Aadhaar Card/ PAN Card/ Voter ID Card/ Passport/ Driving
Licence etc. - In case your original documents have been submitted for pursuing higher studies, you are required to
bring a Bonafide cum Custodian Certificate as per Appendix ’A’ on original letterhead duly signed by the
Principal/ Head of the institution where the documents have been submitted.

- SSB Interview Call Letter
- 10th/12th Original and Photocopy(2 each) Mark sheet & Certificate
- Original and Photocopy(2 each)Graduation/Post Graduation Degree Certification
- Certificate from the principal if in the final year.
- NCC Certificate (Original & Photocopy) (For NCC Special Entry)
- Valid Commercial Pilots License, issued by DCGA (If applicable)
- Original Ticket (If eligible for Travelling Allowance)
- Identity Proof (Voter ID/Passport/DL/PAN Card) (Original and 2 Photocopies)
- NOC Certificate (for those who are currently working in Govt. Org or PSUs)
- Risk certificate duly signed by parent/guardian. ( for minors)
- 20 Passport Size Colour Photographs (with light coloured clothes and against a white background)
