India Successfully Test-fires Air Version of Brahmos Supersonic Cruise Missile. Know the Specifications

Air launched a version of Brahmos supersonic cruise missile that was successfully test-fired from supersonic fighter aircraft Sukhoi 30 MK-I at Odisha, India. The strength of the three departments of the Indian Armed Forces has grown tremendously over the past decade. Taking this sequence forward, on 8 December 2021, to further enhance the strength of the Indian Air Force, the Indian Air Force successfully test-fired the air version of the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile. The Brahma Supersonic Cruise Missile made by DRDO was successfully test-fired aboard Air Force fighter aircraft Sukhoi 30 Mk 1. The test was conducted at Chandipur in Odisha around 10:30 am.

The purpose for which the BrahMos air cruise missile was designed was successful in the test held on 8 December 2021, meeting all the demands. After the success, the BrahMos Air version has also been inducted into the Indian Air Force. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has congratulated the DRDO and the Indian Air Force for the successful test-firing of this cruise missile received by the Indian Air Force. Brahmos supersonic cruise missile:-

Sukhoi 30 Mk 1 is one of the best fighter jets of the Indian Army. After the addition of BrahMos supersonic cruise missile made by DRDO, now the power of this fighter plane has doubled. The air version of the BrahMos missile has been completely developed in India. Ramjet engine technology has been used in this missile so that its speed becomes better and it can hit any target with accuracy and cause more damage. Earlier, another air version of the BrahMos missile was successfully test-fired in July 2021.

Features of Air Version of Brahmos Cruise Missile

The air version of the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile, which was launched on 8 December 2021, has been developed before. But the flaws that have been in the earlier version have been rectified in this supersonic air missile.
Following are the features of this air cruise missile:-

  • It can be easily fixed in Indian Air Force Sukhoi-30 MK1.
  • The range of this missile is from 400 to 500 km.
  • Ramjet engine has been used in this missile system, which can destroy its target with accuracy.
  • This missile is capable of changing its course in the air and due to this, it can easily destroy the moving target.
  • This missile can also be flown at a height of 10 meters so that it does not come under the enemy radar here.
  • Compared to the American missile, it strikes its target at twice the speed that the Tom Hawk missile of America.

To increase the strength of India’s three defence systems, BrahMos, developed from DRDO and Russia’s technology, has been entrusted. At present, many BrahMos missiles are present in the Indian defence system. Due to data security reasons, the Indian Armed Forces do not provide much information about their weapons. But till now Squad number 222 of the Indian Air Force is the first such squadron in the country.

This squadron was equipped with BrahMos missiles. Indian Air Force’s best warship Sukhoi-30 MK1 is equipped with this missile. Apart from this, the Army also has hundreds of BrahMos missiles. These missiles are used by many tanks like Bhishma, Arjun. BrahMos missiles given to the Indian Navy are used in warships, destroyers and frigates.
