How to Join Indian Navy as Doctor:
In order to become officer in the Indian Navy. A candidate can apply for the AMC Entry which is Army Medical Corps. There are types of entry in the Army Medical Corps one is SSC (Short Service Commission) and second one is PC (permanent Commission). All the candidates who are qualified for this can join the service at the rank of Captain or equivalent in the Indian Navy Service. Selection Process of Doctors in Indian Navy:
The Selection Process of the candidates is done on the basis of two types of commissions:
- Short Service Commission
- Permanent Commission
The candidates are selected as a doctor in the Service through the Short Service commission and Permanent Commission etc. The eligibility criteria and the Selection Process is completely different for these both commissions,. Short Service Commission:
The Short Service Commission is basically for those have done medicals education from the civil medical colleges. A candidate who have done MBBS, BUMS or any medical Education they can apply for the Short Service commission:
Eligibility Criteria for SSC (Short Service Commission) Entry:
- A candidate must have medical degree in MBBS, Post Graduate Diplomas or Post Graduates MD/MS, etc.
- Age Limit: There is no minimum Age Limit Criteria is given on the official website.
- The age of the candidate should not be more than 455 years old.
The Selection of the candidates is done through the three phases of Exams. A candidate will have to appear for the Written Examination, SSB Interview and then Medical Examination, etc.
The Notification for the SSC (Short Service Commission) Doctors are released twice in a year in the local newspapers and official websites. I will also update you as soon as the notification released on the official website.
Permanent Commission (PC):
The Permanent Commission is basically granted to those candidates who complete their medical Education from the Military College. All the candidates who wants to become doctor in the Indian Navy. they can apply for this right after the 12th. Let’s the Eligibility Criteria and Age Limit required for this.
Eligibility Criteria for Permanent Commission:
- A Candidate must have done class 12th with PCB (Physics Chemistry and Biology).
- A candidate should not have scored less than 60% of marks in class 12th.
- Age Limit: The Age of the candidate must be between 17 years old to 22 years old.
- The age should not be more than 22 years and it should not be less than 17 years.
The Selection of the candidates is done on the basis of the Written Examination, Interview, and Medical Examination, etc. The Notification for this is released every year on the official websites and local newspapers etc. I will also update as soon as the official notification released.
Army Dental Corps:

Eligibility Criteria for Army Dental Corps:
- A candidate must have done BDS with minimum 60% marks in the final year or
- A candidate who has done MDS from any recognized Institute or University.
- A candidate should have also complete rotary Internship
- Candidate must have a permanent Dental registration Certificate.
- Age Limit: The age of the candidate for the BDS should not be more than 28 years old.
- The age limit for the MDS should not be more than 30 years old.
