For Indian Navy, Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL) has constructed India’s First Nuclear Missile Tracking Ship – known as VC11184. It is an Ocean Surveillance Ship which is in its final stage of being completed and on its way to the National Technical Research Organization (NTRO). This ship will be the first dedicated resource in Phase-II of India’s ballistic missile defence.
According to the sources, this project has cost around Rs. 1,500 crores and has been designed by Vik Sandvik Design India. India’s First Nuclear Missile Tracking Ship has a displacement of around 10,000 tonnes, length of 175 metre, beam of 22 metre, draught of 6 metre. It can attain a speed of around 21 knots.
