Bana Singh became an Indian soldier on 6 January 1969

Nearly 3 years after the job, when the Pakistani army attacked India’s borders in 1971, Bana Singh with his battalion took on the opposition. After 16 years of this war, on 26 June 1987, once again, he got a chance to fight with the Pakistani Army. In fact, the Pakistani army had captured the Qaid outpost in the Siachen glacier at an altitude of about 21,000 feet.
The challenge before India was to win it again. It is said that when the plan was to redeem the Qaid outpost, Then Subedar Bana Singh himself gave his name for this mission. It was also not that he had no idea of the troubles faced during this mission. They were aware of the danger of survival in a temperature of -50o C and lack of oxygen. Nevertheless, he chose himself for this mission.
Bana Singh interacted with his colleagues and prepared a special plan for this mission. Under this plan, he along with four of his colleagues chose a very dangerous route to reach the Pakistani intruders. During the climb on the other side, the other unit asked to keep the opponents entangled. The idea was working. Bana was moving fast with his colleagues. At that point, he got an eye on the Qaid post, which was lying on the wall.
The battle for victory over subject conditions
Now the challenge before Bana was how to cross this ice wall. The temperature was constantly falling. It was getting dark on the other side. After stopping for some time, Bana decided that he would take advantage of the darkness of the night and climb.
Soon he was able to get close to the post. He then divided his teammates into two teams and asked them to throw grenades at opponents from different directions. All this happened in such a hurry that the Pakistani army did not understand what happened.
Immediately the dead bodies of the opponents were laid. When the opponent left in small numbers, he left the post and fled. In this way, Bana Singh with the help of his comrades Riflemen Chunni Lal, Laxman Das, Om Raj, and Kashmir Chand finally succeeded in hoisting the Indian flag at the Qaid post.
