How To Join Indian Military Academy

The Indian Military Academy, IMA Dehradun is the most premier training  Academy of Indian Army  which was established in 1932. Basically IMA is meant for the training of male candidates for permanent commission in Indian Army. In the foot hills of Himalayan mountains and within the beauty of Dehradun you can easily find Gentlemen cadets learning and performing drills, exercises, weapon training, and Physical training along with camaraderie of Defence forces. Academy is located in intense peaceful location. IMA offers outstanding career opportunities to courageous young cadres.

Prime Location-The campus is about 8 km west of Dehradun in the northern Indian state of Uttarakhand. It lies on National Highway 72, which separates the North and South Campus. The trainees of  IMA are referred as Gentleman cadets because in graduation they also learn to hold the highest value of morality and ethics.

Each candidate have to follow the selection procedure to be a part of IMA, there are various levels for which candidate have to get prepared to join IMA inside IMA Cadets undergo training for one year. Exceptions are trainees selected via the Combined Defence Services Exam of UPSC. These cadets who are graduates of a non-military college undergo training for one and a half years.

Selection procedure is followed by 3 major steps:

  • NDA
  • CDS
  • TGC
  • UES
  • AEC

NDA (National Defence Academy)

This is a written exam organised by UPCS twice a year through this only male candidates who have passed their class 12th can make their career in armed forces after appearing in NDA. When candidate got selected in NDA and chooses Army as preference then he undergo through 3 year training at NDA Khadakwasla and then after 1 year training at IMA.

  • Agecriterion – 16 ½ – 19 ½ years
    for upcoming notifications of this coming year 2018 DOB is given below:
    NDA-I 2018 –
    Date of birth must fall between 02 June, 1999 and 01 June, 2002 (Both Dates Inclusive).
    NDA-II 2018 –
    Date of birth must fall between 02 January, 2000 and 01 January, 2003 (Both Dates Inclusive).
  • Educational Qualification The aspirants must have passed or must be appearing in 12th standard or equivalent.
  • Important Dates –
    NDA-I 2018 – Date of notification– 10 January, 2018 to 05 February2018
    Exam Date – 22 April, 2018
    2. NDA-II 2018 – Date of Notification – 06 June, 2018 to 02 July, 2018
    Exam Date – 9 September, 2018
