Can Agniveer Become Para Special Forces?

Since a new recruitment process was announced many candidates have questions in mind that can Agniveer become Para Special Forces or not? Here we are going to provide you detail information on whether an Agniveer will join Para SF or not and if he joins then what will be the process of joining?

Can Agniveer Join Para SF Through Agnipath?

Many candidates wonder if they can join the PARA SF or Parachute regiments after joining the army under the Agnipath Scheme. There is no way to know if one can select a specific regiment through Agnipath Entry. According to the official notification, “Agniveers can be posted to any regiment/unit and can be further transferred in organisational interest.” However, it is highly unlikely that Agniveers will be posted to Parachute regiments or can go for Para SF probation during their four-year tenure, but 25% of permanent Agniveers may apply for the Parachute Regiment.

How to Join PARA Regiment:-

First, let’s go over the entire Para Commando recruitment process that is currently in place. There is no word on whether the same procedure will be followed under the Agnipath Scheme.

The following procedure would be implemented immediately in order to recruit motivated and volunteer soldiers into the PARA Regt:

  1. Successful and eligible candidates, i.e. those who achieve 100 per cent in Physical Fitness tests and 50 per cent in Written tests and are in merit, will be asked by AROs just prior to their despatch to exercise the option of joining the ELITE Para Regt. These volunteer candidates will be subjected to additional tests in order to be considered for the PARA Regt.
  2. If these candidates who have exercised their option to join the PARA Regiment do not pass the special screening tests for the PARA Regiment, they will be assigned to the already allotted Parent Regiment.
