UPSC entry – How to join Indian Navy
The Union Public Service commission (UPSC) entry includes National Defence Academy (NDA) exams and Combined Defence Forces (CDS) exams.
NDA Exams: NDA exams are conducted twice in a year for candidates who have passed class 12th with physics and mathematics. It is conducted to induct candidates into the three wings of the Indian Armed force, namely, the Army, the Navy and the Air Force. The selected candidates are trained for a period of three years in Khadakwasla, Pune. Later they are moved to their chosen academies for further pre-commissioning training.
Combined Defence Service Exams: Candidates who wants to pursue a career in the Indian Armed Forces after graduation can get entry through CDS exams. The CDS exams are conducted two times in a year for inducting candidates in the Indian Navy, Indian Army, Indian Airforce and the Officers training Academy. After clearing the written exam and SSB interview, the candidates are then moved to their respective academies.
University Entry Scheme – How to join Indian Navy
Through University entry scheme (UES), applicant can join Indian Navy as Permanent Commission (PC) officers in executive (GS) branch and short service commission officers in executive and technical branches. Candidates eligible for this entry should be pursuing final year of engineering with at least 60% aggregate marks in pre-final years.
10+2 B Tech Cadet entry – How to join Indian Navy
Candidates who have completed 10+2 with minimum 70% marks in physics, chemistry and mathematics can apply for B Tech cadet entry. With this entry, candidate gets to join Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala Kerala for a four years degree course. On successful completion of this course, candidates are awarded with engineering degree. For this course, candidates are shortlisted on the basis of their percentage followed by SSB interview.
Graduate Direct Entries – How to join Indian Navy
The candidates are directly recruited under this entry based on their graduation cut-off marks. They are inducted for Executive and Logistic branch which includes IT, Observer, Pilot, Education, Logistics, and administration. It is pre-requisite to be a graduate to apply for this entry. Male and Female both can apply for Graduate Direct Entries.
