The Indian Naval Academy is the most prestigious officer training academy in India. It is located in Ezhimala, Kannur district, Kerala. INA is a situation between Ezhimala hill and the Kavvayi backwaters and has a 7 KM beachfront on the Arabian Sea.
Being the largest naval academy, INA was established in the month of May 1969 and its Ezhimala campus was inaugurated on 8th January 2009. Earlier, it was known as the Ezhimala campus. Later on, the name changed to Indian Naval Academy.

Passing Out Parade at INA in 2020:
Indian Naval Academy (INA), Ezhimala will hold it’s Passing out Parade (POP) for Autumn Term 2020 on Saturday, 28 November 2020. The POP will be conducted without the presence of parents and guests of trainees, considering the precautions to be followed during the COVID-19 crisis.
Trainees comprising Midshipmen of 99th Indian Naval Academy Course (B.Tech and MSc) and Cadets of 30th Naval Orientation Course (Extended) will pass out as Officers on successful completion of their ab-initio training. Two trainees of the Sri Lanka Navy will also pass out this term.

Trainees of Indian Naval Academy’s four years B. Tech degree course will be awarded their degrees by Vice Admiral M A Hampiholi, AVSM, NM, Commandant, INA during the convocation ceremony on 27 November 2020. The passing out courses were administered the Oath of Allegiance by Rear Admiral Tarun Sobti, VSM, Deputy Commandant and Chief Instructor, INA on 25 November 2020.
To commemorate the sacrifices of the brave soldiers of the country, a Wreath Laying Ceremony was conducted at the War Memorial “Prerna Sthal” of INA on 25 November 2020. A spectacular outdoor training demonstration on 26 November 2020 by the trainees and INA band shall also add to the grandeur of the events conducted during this period.
The Reviewing Officer, in his address, acknowledged the passing out courses and counseled them to imbibe the core ethics of Indian Navy ‘Responsibility, Honour and Courage’ in letter and essence. He fortified the trainees to keep the fighting spirit integral regardless of the situations around them.

Training Duration at Indian Naval Academy:
The period of initial training for cadet entry is 4 years and direct entry graduate candidates are 22 weeks. The training zone at Indian Naval Academy includes the main academic building complex, physical training, aquatics and outdoor training, fields, a firing range, cadet’s Mess, cadet’s squadrons. It also includes the Service and Technical Training wings, labs, workshops, library, and an 1800-capacity auditorium.
Every other day at the academy offers a different challenge to toughen up the next crop of servicemen. The transformation from boys to men ushers in a strong breed of Indian military personnel equipped to defend the country in the best way possible.
