The CDS exam, or the Combined Defense Services Examination, is a competitive exam conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) in India. CDS 2023 Eligibility Criteria:-
The CDS (Combined Defence Services) exam is for the recruitment of officers into the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Indian Naval Academy (INA), Air Force Academy (AFA), and Officers Training Academy (OTA).
The eligibility criteria for the CDS exam are as follows:
- Nationality: A candidate must be either
- A citizen of India, or
- A subject of Bhutan, or
- A subject of Nepal.
- Age Limit: The age limit varies depending on the academy the candidate is applying for.
- For IMA: Unmarried male candidates between the age of 19 and 24 years as of 1st January of the year in which the course is due to commence.
- For INA: Unmarried male candidates between the age of 19 and 22 years as of 1st January of the year in which the course is due to commence.
- For AFA: Unmarried male candidates between the age of 20 and 24 years as of 1st January of the year in which the course is due to commence.
- For OTA (Men): Unmarried male candidates between the age of 19 and 25 years as of 1st January of the year in which the course is due to commence.
- For OTA (Women): Unmarried women, issueless widows who have not remarried, and issueless divorcees (in possession of divorce documents) who have not remarried are eligible. The age limit is between 19 and 25 years as of 1st January of the year in which the course is due to commence.
- Educational Qualification:
- For IMA and OTA: A candidate must hold a degree from a recognized university or equivalent.
- For INA: A candidate must have a degree in Engineering from a recognized university or institution.
- For AFA: A candidate must have a degree in Engineering from a recognized university or a Bachelor’s degree in Science with Physics and Mathematics or a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce.
- Physical Standards: Candidates must be physically fit according to the physical standards prescribed by the respective academies.

CDS 2/2023 Exam Date:-
UPSC releases official calendars for all the examination conducted by it every year, so according to the official calendar CDS 2 2023 Exam will be conducted on the 3rd September 2023 at various center in India.

- The written exam consists of objective type questions.
- Both papers are of 2 hours duration, and the maximum marks for each paper are 100.
- There is a negative marking of 1/3rd of the marks assigned to a particular question for wrong answers.
- The General Knowledge paper includes questions from subjects such as History, Geography, Current Affairs, and Science.
- The English paper includes questions on topics such as Grammar, Vocabulary, Comprehension, and Sentence Rearrangement.
- The minimum qualifying marks for each paper is 20%.
- Candidates who qualify in the written exam are called for the SSB interview, which consists of a series of psychological tests, group tasks, and personal interview.
