As per the recent announcement, the Indian Army has opted for a (3+1) four-year model for its entry-level officers who join through the Indian Army Technical Entry Scheme (TES). Under this model, the initial three years of training will emphasize technical training, provided at the Cadet Training Wings (CTWs), followed by a year of basic military training at the Indian Military Academy (IMA) in Dehradun, as per a statement released by officials.
Benefits of changing TES Training Period:-
The provision of a common basic military training (BMT) at IMA in the final year of the four-year training model is expected to address the issue of common merit while also fostering better camaraderie among TES officers and IMA GCs (ex NDA/ ACC/ DE Course).
The approval for counting the credits earned by officers during their training at CTWs and IMA towards accreditation for a B.Tech degree has been granted by both the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) in March 2023.
Army TES 2023 Entry Eligibility Criteria:-
To be eligible for this entry, candidates must have successfully cleared the 10+2 examination or an equivalent qualification with a minimum aggregate of 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics from recognized education boards.
Also need to appeared in JEE Mains 2023 examination.
