- Cariappa Battalion: This battalion is responsible for training cadets in the first term of their training at the IMA. The focus is on physical fitness, drill, and developing basic military skills.
- Thimayya Battalion: This battalion is responsible for training cadets in the second term of their training. The focus is on weapons training, tactics, and leadership development.
- Manekshaw Battalion: This battalion is responsible for training cadets in the third term of their training. The focus is on advanced weapons training, tactics, and field exercises.
