Eyesight Standard in Armed Forces Exams like NDA, CDS, AFCAT Etc

Eyesight Standard in Armed Forces Exams like NDA, CDS, AFCAT Etc:-

According to the Indian Armed forces, those who are looking for their career in the defence must have at least 6/6 eyesight as per their rule. But there is some relaxation if you are joining the technical service of defence, but for the higher posts in defence like Fighter Pilot in Indian Air force, a commando in NSG, Naval pilot or Snipers of Indian army. There is no any kind of relaxation in the eyesight. let’s discuss Eyesight Standard in Indian Armed Forces Exams like NDA, CDS, AFCAT etc.

Ways to enter in defence in India:-

  1. NDA & NA
  2. TES (Technical Entry Scheme)
  3. CDSE
  4. AFCAT
  5. INET (Indian Navy Entrance Test)

We will discuss each topic in detail below. Which they update every year, according to their vacant seats. But the major ways is that.

Eyesight Standard for NDA exam:

NDA which is National Defence Academy it is required a candidate with perfect eyesight at least 6/6. And the candidate should not have colour blindness of night blindness. The candidate will also have to give the certificate that he or his family has never had any colour or night blindness. if the candidate had gone for the LASIK surgery or any other surgery for the correction of eyes, NDA strictly does not allow those candidates. You must have natural eyesight without any eye correction surgery or glasses. And for myopia and hypermetropia. Myopia should not be more than 2.5 D and hypermetropia should not more than 3.5 D including Astigmatism.

Eye sight standard in NDA for Indian Naval:-

  1. Vision standard for that is 6/6 without any glasses
  2. Limits for myopia 0.75D and for Hypermetropia +1.5D
  3. Binocular vision III
  4. Limits for colour perception I

Eyesight required in NDA for Indian Air force

  1. Candidates who are habitual of wearing glasses is not allowed in the Air force.
  2. Vision standard for that is 6/12 without any glasses
  3. Limits for myopia 0.75D and for Hypermetropia +1.5D
  4. Binocular vision III
  5. Limits for colour perception I

Eyesight required in NDA for Indian Army

  1. Vision standard for that is 6/12 without any glasses
  2. Binocular vision III
  3. Limits for colour perception I
  4. Lasik Surgery is strictly not allowed in the Army also. Because as per the rules Any eye correction surgery is only allowed if that is done after the age of 20 years old and in NDA is age limit 16 t0 19 years.

Eyesight required TES:-

  1. In this particular exam, a candidate will not have to go through the written exams, the selection is based on your 12th percentage, you will directly go for SSB interview and medical test. The process is the same as it was in the NDA exams.
  2. Candidates who are habitual of wearing glasses is not allowed.
  3. Vision standard for that is 6/12 without any glasses and with glasses, it should be 6/6.
  4. Limits for myopia 0.75D and for Hypermetropia +1.5D
  5. Binocular vision III
  6. Limits for colour perception I
  7. Lasik Surgery is strictly not allowed in TES also. Because as per the rules Any eye correction surgery is only allowed if that is done after the age of 20 years old.
  8. And the age limit for TES is 16-19yrs old.

Eyesight Standard for CDS exam:-

The candidate who is appearing for the CDS examination should know the required vision in CDS.  CDS allows their candidates with one LASIK surgery or any eye correction surgery if that surgery is done after the age of 20 years old. And your eye sight must be correct and should have healthy eyes. If you wear glasses you eyesight not be bad than 6/12 and after wearing glasses it should be 6/6.

Is glasses or spectacle is allowed in Indian Air force?

You are looking for Indian Air force as Fighter pilot there is no any way with glasses to join flying branch of the Indian air force, you can join ground duty branch or technical branch. But you can go for eye correction surgery. if that surgery is successful and you get perfect vision as Air force required then you can apply for Flying branch also.

Eyesight Standard for AFCAT

AFCAT is air force common admission test which recruits the candidate only for the Air Force. As we discussed above the Indian Air force eye sight required, here also it would be same.

  1. Candidates who are habitual of wearing glasses is not allowed in the Air force.
  2. Vision standard should not be bad than 6/12 without any glasses.
  3. Limits for myopia 0.75D and for Hypermetropia +1.5D
  4. Binocular vision III
  5. Eye correction surgery is allowed in the Indian Air Force but that should be done only once and after the age of 20 years old.
  6. And after the surgery, your vision should be correct and you should have healthy eyes.

Eyesight Standard for INET:-

INET is Indian Navy Entrance Test which recruits the candidate for Indian navy only. As we discussed above, here it would be also same.

  1. Vision standard for that is 6/6 without any glasses
  2. Limits for myopia 0.75D and for Hypermetropia +1.5D
  3. Binocular vision III
  4. Limits for colour perception I
  5. Eye correct is allowed if it has done after the age of 20 years old.
Important Note:-

You have an eyesight problem, and you have dreams of defence in your eyes.

  • Your eyes should not be bad than 6/12, and if after the glasses it is 6/6 then it is fine.
  • After the age of 20 years old. You can for eye correction surgery,  and if you get correct vision after the surgery you can apply for almost all the posts in defence.
