admissions will start from the next academic session (2021-2020) in a phased manner. For the smooth implementation of this directive, the ministry has directed all concerned authorities for ensuring the availability of necessary infrastructure as well as sufficient female staff in Sainik school. This decision is in line with the Government’s objective towards gender equality, greater inclusiveness and enables greater participation of women in armed forces. It also strengthens the “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao” motto.
What is the Sainik School?
schools were conceived by VK Krishna Menon (then-defence Minister) in 1961. The objective behind establishing these schools was to rectify the regional and class imbalance amongst officer cadre of Indian Military. and to prepare students for entry into National Defence Academy (NDA) in Khadakwasla, Pune and Indian Naval Academy. As of now, there are 27 Sainik schools running and proposed for future coverage of all the Indian stares.
Sainik School is basically school where students are trained to serve the nation in future. This is completely different from other schools. In this school, all the rule and regulations are like army cadet. They provide to good atmosphere and positive vibes everywhere, the school follows CBSE pattern and you will get CBSE Certificate, New Delhi. These schools are managed by the Sainik School Society of India under the Ministry of defence.
Till date, only male students are eligible to apply for this, but in the recent article of The Times of India says now girls can also apply for this. to we will discuss Admission of female students in Sainik school.
India has a total of 27 Sainik schools in the different states of the country.
- Student can take Admission only in class 6th and class 9th and Admission will be taken on the basis of written exams.
- And for admission in class 11th admission will be taken through the interview and the candidates would be shortlisted on the basis of the of their marks in class 10th.
- As per the rules of Sainik School society, 67% are seats are reserved for the boys of the state where is school is located. And rest of the seats are for the boys of other state and union territories.
- In these seats, 25% seats are reserved for the sons of defence personnel and ex-servicemen while 15% seats are reserved for the SC, ST.
- Only 25% of seats are available for the civilians.
How can girls Join Sainik schools:-
In our country, there is no discrimination for gender. Recently defence minister Rajnath Singh has announced the admission of girls in Sainik school from 2021-22 in a phased manner. Rajnath Singh has also asked the authorities concerned to ensure availability of necessary environment and female staff in the Sainik Schools.
How Girls Can Join The Indian Army?
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA TO JOIN SAINIK SCHOOL:-
- To take admission in class 6th, student age should be 10-12 years.
- To take admission in class 9th, student age should be between 13-15 years.
- And for the boys of class 11th, their age should be 16-18 years.
SELECTION PROCEDURE OF SAINIK SCHOOL:-
- Written Entrance test
- Interview by the Sainik Board
- Medical test in Government Civil Hospital.
HOW TO PREPARE FOR THE ENTRANCE EXAM OF SAINIK SCHOOL
Entrance test Syllabus for class 6th
- Mathematical knowledge test
- Langues ability test
- Intelligent test
Total time duration would be 3 hrs for this. Test paper would be in English, Hindi and Malayalam.
Entrance test Syllabus for class 9th
- Mathematics
- Science
- English
- Social study
Test paper would be in English only. All the candidates who would qualify the written test will go for the interview and medical test in government civil hospital.
How to take admission in Sainik school in class 11th
- There is no entrance exam for the class 11th There selection would be based on their marks scored in class 10th.
- They will directly go for the interview and after that for the medical.
