What is CPSS Test for Joining Flying Branch?

The computerised Pilot Selection System (CPSS Test) is for joining Airforce flying branch. Those candidates who want to join Airforce as a Pilot has to clear this test. CPSS Test used to evaluate the candidates’ psychomotor skills Information processing skills (speed and accuracy), coordination, visualization, time-sharing along cognitive information processing skills. by subjecting a large number of candidates simultaneously to perform concurrent multiple tasks.

CPSS has replaced the earlier existing selection Pilot Aptitude Battery Test (PABT) which consists of Instrument Comprehension tests (INSB) in the form of manual objective type exams and an elementary PC based Machine Tests.

What is CPSS Test (Computerised Pilot Selection System Test):-

1. Many Airforce Aspirants wanted to fly advanced fighter plan like Su-30, Tejas, Rafael, etc. They have to clear this test after clearing SSB Interview of CDS, NDA, AFCAT jo join Flying branch.

2. This is a very accurate testing system of psychomotor skills and cognitive information processing skills of aspirants.

3. CPSS Test is proposed by the late Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam when he was the scientific adviser of the prime minister in 1997.

How many attempt to clear CPSS Test?

There is only one chance to clear this test, if you failed in Test on your first attempt, you can not join the flying branch in the armed forces in future. So prepare well before appearing for the Computerised Pilot Selection System Test.

Selection Process:-

There are two steps of test-

1. Written Exam (MCQ)
2. CPSS Machine Test

Step-1 (Written Exam):-

First the give instrucation of 6 dial pattern present at aircrofts, Based on this information they asked MCQ questions along with other MCQ questions that is given below-

1. Dial reading questions
2. IQ Test
3. Pattern matching Test
4. Basic Maths Exam (around 15 small quizzes in total).

Step 2 CPSS Test:-

After passing the written test you have to sit on CPSS Machin which is like the real aircraft’s cockpit. You have to play various video games using the joystick and your leg. You will be awarded points for clearing particular games. There will be a total of three chance for playing one game and your best score will be count.
