The Indian Air Force has released the AFCAT 2024 Notification. Starting from December 1, 2023, candidates can apply for Class – I Gazetted Officers in Ground Duty (Technical and Non-Technical) and Flying Branch. AFCAT 1 2024 : Application Fee

The application fee must be paid online. Candidates applying for AFCAT entry are required to pay a non-refundable examination fee of Rs. 250. However, candidates applying for NCC special entry and Meteorology are exempt from this fee.

AFCAT 1 2024 : Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the AFCAT 1 2024 Exam, candidates must meet the following two criteria:

(a) Nationality – The candidate must be a citizen of India as per the Indian Citizenship Act, 1955.

(b) Age – The age criteria for the various posts are as follows:

  1. Flying Branch: 20 to 24 years as of January 1, 2025, i.e., born between January 2, 2001, to January 1, 2005 (both dates inclusive). The upper age limit for candidates holding a valid and current Commercial Pilot License issued by DGCA (India) is relaxable up to 26 years, i.e., born between July 2, 1998, to July 1, 2004 (both dates inclusive).
  2. Ground Duty (Technical/Non-Technical) Branches: 20 to 26 years as of January 1, 2025, i.e., born between January 2, 1999, to January 1, 2005 (both dates inclusive).

AFCAT 2024 Written Exam Pattern

The AFCAT 2024 Written Exam serves as the entry-level examination for candidates. To receive a call letter for the AFSB (Air Force Selection Board), one must attain the minimum qualifying marks, as determined by the Indian Air Force. Successfully clearing both the Written Exam and the AFSB Interview is essential to secure a place in the final merit list.

AFCAT 2024 : Dress Code Guidelines

Candidates are required to adhere to a specific dress code at the AFCAT Exam Center:

  • On the exam day, candidates must wear slippers or sandals with flat heels. Closed footwear such as shoes is not allowed in the exam centers.
  • Clothing with large buttons is also prohibited.
  • Individuals wearing specific attire for religious purposes will undergo mandatory frisking before entering the exam hall.
  • Ornaments like rings, earrings, nose pins, chains/necklaces, pendants, badges, brooches, etc., are not permitted inside the examination hall.
  • The consumption of tobacco or alcoholic products is strictly prohibited within the exam center premises.

AFCAT AFSB (Air Force Selection Board )

AFSB (Air Force Selection Board) constitutes the second phase of the exam. Candidates who successfully clear the written exam will receive call letters for the AFSB Interview round. Selected candidates will be summoned to one of the Air Force Selection Boards.

This phase involves a 5-day process during which candidates must undertake various intellectual and mental tasks. The culmination of this process is the Interview round on the last day. The candidate’s performance across all tasks will be collectively evaluated.

For candidates who have applied for NCC Special Entry and the Meteorology Branch, direct calls for AFSB testing at one of the AFSB centers will be initiated.

AFCAT 2024 Physical Fitness

When reporting to the SSB (Services Selection Board), candidates are advised to be physically fit and healthy to undergo various tests at AFSB (Air Force Selection Board). Candidates should strive to attain the ability to run 1 mile (1.6 km) in 10 minutes, perform 10 push-ups, and complete 3 chin-ups.

AFCAT 2024 Result

The AFCAT Written Exam is conducted in the months of August and February. AFCAT results are typically announced within 15 to 20 days of the written examination. Following the declaration of the written exam results, the AFSB (Air Force Selection Board) will conduct the SSB (Services Selection Board) process for all the shortlisted candidates.
