This is good news for all the women who want to join the Armed forces as an officer. There are two officers, Prakriti and Diksha become the officer in ITBP, they cleared the UPSC CAPF exam and undergo the training in Mussoorie. The rank ceremony was held at the Academy in presence of Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.
The two women officers who are part of 42 Assistant Commandants (GD) and 11 Assistant Commandants (Engineer) participated in the passing-out parade conducted at the academy. Prakriti is an electrical engineer and Diksha is the daughter of serving Inspector Kamlesh Kumar in the ITBP.
Women officers joining the ITBP as officers have served in combat roles earlier as well. However, it was only in 2016 when the appointment of women as combat officers through the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) entrance exam was conducted by the UPSC.
On this occasion, ITBP released the book titled “History of ITBP.” It contains historical achievements of the force since its inception. The book comes in English and reflects different facts and facets about historical developments in the force since its inception.
The book has been published in view of making a reference volume for factual history and knowledge of the force to officers and its troops. The paramilitary force said the book will also be useful for administrative and training purposes for in-depth details as the official history of the force, informed the ITBP.
