Indian Navy Sailor Salary for Sports Quota:

In the Indian Navy, The work profile and the salary structure of the Sailors in the service would be very much similar. There wouldn’t be much different. The selection procedure through the Sports Quota in the Indian Navy will be different in nature. A candidate is eligible to join only three posts through the sports entry according to recent notification:

  • Direct Entry Pretty Officer
  • Senior Secondary recruits
  • Matrix Recruits

And the salary structure would be different for these posts. We will discuss their salary at last, before that let’s see the eligibility of these Post for the Sports Quota entry. We will discuss the eligibility of each post individually:

Direct Entry Pretty Officer:

  • A candidate must have pass 10+2  from any recognized Board.
  • Candidate should have participated in the International or National or state level sports Tournaments etc.
  • He/she should have attained 6th position in National (seniors) and in National (Juniors) or 3rd position in the Inter-university meets.
  • Age Limit: The age of the candidate must be between 17 to 22 years old.

Senior Secondary Recruits (SSR):

  • A candidate must have pass 10+2  from any recognized Board.
  • Candidate should have participated in the International or National or state level sports Tournaments etc.
  • Age Limit: The of the candidates must be between 17 to 21 years old.

Matrix Recruits (MR):

  • A candidate must have passed 1oth from any recognized board (State or Central).
  • Candidate must have participated in International or National or State level sports.
  • Age Limit: The Age of the candidates must be between 17 to 21 years old.

Salary and Allowances of Navy Sailors through sports Quota:

Navy Sailors Salary & Allowances:- During the initial training period, a stipend of Rs. 14,600/- per month will be admissible. On successful completion of initial training, they will be placed in Level 3 of the Defence Pay Matrix (21,700- 69,100).

In addition, they will be paid MSP  5200/- per month plus DA (as applicable) plus X Group pay and Rs. 6200/- per month plus Dearness Allowance.

Navy Sailors Promotions:-

Promotion prospects exist up to the rank of Master Chief Petty Officer-I, i.e. Level 8 of the Defence Pay Matrix ( 47,600-  1,51,100) plus MSP  5200/- per month plus Dearness Allowance.  Opportunities for promotion to commissioned officer also exist for those who perform well and qualify the prescribed examinations.

Perquisites for Navy Sailors:-

  • During the entire period of training and thereafter, sailors are given books, reading material, uniforms, food, and accommodation as per entitlement.
  • Sailors are entitled to medical treatment, Leave Travel Concessions for self and dependents, Group Housing Benefits and other privileges.
  • Navy Sailors are also entitled to Annual and Casual Leave, Children Education and House Rent Allowances. Post-retirement benefits include pension, gratuity and Leave encashment.
  • All perquisites are extended as per service conditions and their eligibility/admissibility is regulated as per Government orders in force and amended from time to time.
  • Sailors Insurance Cover:- Insurance cover (on contribution) of Rs. 50 lakhs for sailors is applicable.

Indian Navy Sailor’s Work Profile:

Candidates selected will undergo Basic Training at INS Chilka followed by Professional training in the allotted trade at various Naval Training Establishments. Branch/ Trade will be allocated as per the requirement of Service.
