Indian Army Creates New Wing to handle Human Rights Issue
Indian Army has faced several cases related to Human Rights violations in the last few years. We all know that Army personnels are well trained in manners & Etiquettes & they do not behave unethically. But, several media reports blame that Army personnels are also indulged in violating Human Rights.
To cope with that Army has recently created a wing which deals with Human Rights issues.
This wing will run under an officer, the rank of Major General. The aim of this wing is to bring more transparency & rectitude in the functioning of the Armed forces.
Major General Gautam Chauhan has taken charge as Additional Director General (Human Rights) in the Army headquarters in Delhi. The new ADG (Human Rights) will function under the Vice Chief of Army Staff.
This new wing will take care of total transparency & fair conductance of military operations conducted in some disturbed areas of J & K and other North eastern states.
The Army is also in the process of implementing a mega reform process Last month, the MoD has approved for the creation of a new post of Deputy Chief for military operations & strategic planning.
The other significant change is the newly created Department of Military Affairs with the Chief of Defence Staff as its Secretary.
The recommendation to create the new posts was made as a result of a few studies.
- The first study on ‘Re-organization & right -sizing’ of the Indian Army was focused on operational structures to make the force more efficient & future ready on western & northern borders.
- The second study was on ‘re-organization of the Army headquarters’ with an aim to bring integration in the Army Officers.
These were some highlights regarding the New wing created by Army.
