Female in Indian Airforce:- Women are now getting equal status with men in the Indian Air Force. And the demand for women in the Indian Air Force is also increasing. Even though in today’s time there are only three types of women enlistments to join the Indian Air Force. But it is possible that in the future there will be other vacancies in the Indian Air Force for women as well. The Indian Air Force has the highest number of women officers as compared to the Navy and the Army. At present, women have only 6 entries to join the Indian Army. Let us know that if a female candidate wants to join the Indian Air Force, then how can you apply and contribute to the Indian Air Force.

Female in Indian Airforce:-

Following are the total 5 entries for women to join Indian Air Force.

Women’s Entry in IAF
Air Force Common Aptitude Test (AFCAT)	·         Flying Branch ·         Technical Branch ·         Ground Duty Branches
Non-Air Force Common Aptitude Test (Non-AFCAT) CDSE and AFTS	·         Meteorological Branch
NCC Special Entry in Indian Air Force.

Air Force Common Aptitude Test (AFCAT Entry):-

It is the dream of every woman candidate to join the Indian Air Force and fly in the heights of the sky. Women who have a dream to join the Indian Air Force and become a warrior have to clear the AFCAT exam. This exam is conducted twice a year. To qualify for this exam, the candidate has to perform well in the written exam. Candidates who qualify for the written test are called for an SSB interview. After this, you are selected for the following branches through the AFCAT exam.

• Flying Branch
• Technical Branch
• Ground Duty Branches

To get selected in the above branch, women candidates must have the following qualifications.

1-Flying Branch:-

Age Limit: – According to the notification issued, the age of the female candidate should be between 19 to 23 years. Then you can be selected for the flying branch.

Educational Qualification: – Female candidate to apply for this entry must have a bachelor’s degree with 60% marks in any one subject from any recognized university in India.Must have Mathematics and Physics in class 12th or BE / B. Tech degree from recognized universities in India with minimum 60% marks.

2-Technical Branch:-

Age Limit: – If you want to get selected for the technical branch by applying in AFCAT then your age should be between 18 to 28 years. There are two types of technical services in this entry. Which is the following:-

Educational Qualification:-

2.1- Aeronautical Engineering (Mechanical Branch):- Candidate must have passed a 4-year degree course from a recognized university with a minimum of 60% marks. In addition, the candidate must have passed the examination of Institute of Engineering or Aeronautical Society of India or Section A and B of Associate Membership

2.2 Aeronautical Engineering (Electrical Branch):-Candidate must have passed a 4-year degree course from a recognized university with a minimum of 60% marks. In addition, the candidate must have passed the examination of the Institute of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering or Aeronautical Society of India or Section A and B of Associate Membership.

3- Ground Duty Branches: –

Female candidates have to apply for Ground Duty Branch as per the following eligibility.

Age Limit: –

20 to 23 years for graduate candidates,

20 to 25 years for post-graduate,

20 to 26 years for LLB holders,

20 to 27 years for M.Ed./Ph.D./Chartered Accountant.

Educational Qualification for Female in Indian Airforce: –

Candidates get three types of services in the Ground Duty Branch. Whose educational qualifications are as follows:-
3.1 For Administration & Logistics: – It is mandatory to have passed Graduation with 60% marks in any discipline from a recognized University in India. If you have a post-graduate degree or diploma then you must also pass with 60% marks.

3.2 In Education Branch: – To serve in this branch, the candidate must have passed a Post Graduate degree with a minimum of 50% marks. Accounts Branch: – To serve in this branch, the candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in any commerce with 60% marks or a postgraduate degree in commerce with 50% marks / CA / Diploma M. Com.

4- Female in Indian Airforce through CDS Entry

Through CDS examination UPSC recruit candidate for the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Air Force Academy (AFA), Indian Naval Academy (INA), and Officers Training Academy (OTA) so the educational qualification would be different as per their guidelines.

• You can apply for the CDS examination only after graduation.
• If the candidate is in the final year of his graduation can also apply for this.
• The candidate must have at least 60% marks in his graduation.

5-NCC Special Entry: –

Through this entry, females can join Indian Air Force. For this, the candidate must have NCC Air Wing Senior Division ‘C’ certificate obtained.

Educational Qualification: – Candidate should have the following educational qualification to apply:-

• Minimum 60% marks in Mathematics and Physics at 12th level.
• 3 years degree course in any subject from a recognized university in India with a minimum of 60% marks.
• The candidate must have passed the examination with 60% of the Institute of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering or Institute of Engineering or Aeronautical Society of India or Section A and B of Associate Membership.

Age Limit:-Candidate age should be minimum of 20 years and a maximum of 24 years as per notification of application form.

6. NDA Exam:-

Now women candidates are also eligible to appear in the NDA examination and be the officers in Airforce.

• To apply, the candidate has to pass the 12th class with Physics and Mathematics.
• If you are a student of class 12th or have passed class 12th sometime back then you can fill this application.
• It is mandatory to have a minimum of 60% marks in the 12th class to apply.
