A candidate can join the Indian Army for 3 years and serve the nation. In these 3 years of service. A candidate will get training for 1 year. The officials said that this is the best way to get the experience of the military Life and as well as enjoy the Allowances and benefits of Indian Army Service. You can get an idea about this from the short service commission. The SSC entry is for the 7 years and the tour of duty is for 3 years. Territorial Army Officer Eligibility Criteria and Selection Process
Selection Process of Tour of Duty Model:
The Selection Process for the officer and soldier will be completely the same, there are no changes has been made and no official announcement has been made regarding this. To get selected as Officer, One will have to clear the
- Written Examination
- SSB Interview
- Medical Test etc.
It is mandatory to clear the SSB Interview to become officer in the Indian Armed forces. The selection process may vary as per the entry but the basic structure is the same. You can apply for the NDA entry, CDS entry, TES entry to become an officer in the Indian Army.

Selection Process of Soldier under Tour of Duty Model:
The selection of a candidate will be done on the Physical Fitness Test. A candidate will have to appear for these following tests:
- Physical Fitness test
- Medical Examination
- Common Entrance Examination
A candidate can directly apply for this post and can appear for the Physical Fitness test and all the candidates who would get selected in this test. They all will proceed for the Medical Examination. Once you clear the Physical and medical test, you will appear for the Common Entrance Test.
Tour of Duty Eligibility Criteria:
The Eligibility Criteria would be completely the same as per the news and some recent articles. No official announcement has been made regarding this. To apply for the post of officer in the Indian Army. It is mandatory to pass at least class 12th with minimum 60% marks. There are many vacancies by which One can become an officer in the service and the eligibility criteria may be bit different. One can apply for NDA, CDS etc to become an officer in the service. Here is the eligibility criteria of both:
NDA Eligibility:
- Unmarried male candidates are eligible to apply for NDA.
- Candidates must undertake not to marry until they finish their complete training.
- All the candidates who have done class 12th with PCM are eligible to apply for this.
- Candidates appearing in the qualifying exam are also eligible to apply.
- A candidate must have scored at least 60% in the 12th board.
- If you are from the Sainik Schools, you will be given some relaxations.
- Age Limit: Age of the candidates must be between 16.5 to 19 yrs old.
- There is no relaxation has been given to any caste or any religion.
- Age limit is the same for all the categories.
CDS Eligibility:
- A candidate must have Degree of a recognised University or equivalent in any stream.
- Candidates appearing in the qualifying exam are also eligible to apply.
- Unmarried male candidates are eligible to apply for this.
- Age Limit: The age of the candidate must be between the 19 years old to 24 years old.
- There is no relaxation has been given to any caste or any religion.
- Age limit is the same for all the categories.
Eligibility for Soldiers under Tour of Duty Recruitment Model:
- A candidate must be a citizen of India
- A candidate must have passed at least 10 classes with 45% from the state board or central Board.
- The Age of the candidate must be between 17.5 years old to 23 years old.
- There are also some relaxation has been given to the candidates who belong to some special categories. To get details about this, check the official notification on the official website.
