Work Profile of AA Sailors:
All the Candidates who will be selected as a AA (Artificers Apprentice) sailor. They will undergo nine weeks’ Basic Training at INS Chilka followed by Professional training in the allotted trade at various Naval Training Establishments. Branch/ Trade will be allocated as per the requirement of Service.
As an Artificer, you will undergo the best technical training to hold very responsible positions as a sailor of the Indian Navy. Management of men in addition to the technical challenges of operating and maintaining some of the most complex systems and sophisticated equipment are the major responsibilities of the Artificer. The job specification of an artificer (as per specialization) includes working on:
- Steam-powered machinery,
- Diesel and gas turbines,
- Guided missiles and other automatically controlled weapons
- Sensors avionic equipment
- Computers and highly advanced radio
- Electrical power systems.
They may also get recruited for the other job when it’s needed. Although the work profile of the Indian Navy AA (Artificers Apprentice) Candidate will be the same as it is given above.

Salary of Navy SSR and AA:
The Salary of the candidates who get recruited through the Navy AA and SSR. They get paid very well for their duty. While on the Training they get a stipend of 14,800/- per month and after the completion of the training they get placed at the Level 3 matrix as per the defence rules and guidelines etc.
Once they get posted on the respected post after the training, they will get a salary of around 21,800/- per month to 61,300/- per month. The salary of the candidate may get a range between this. The salary in the Indian Armed forces always depends on the nature of work and area of posting etc.
A candidate also gets some extra pay like MSP (Military Service Pay) of 6200/- per month which is completed after the salary. There are also some Grade pay and other Dearness Allowances and Travel allowances etc.
