To Promote Clean Energy Consumption, proposal of Amendment to Energy Conservation Act, 2001

In recent time there is growing energy needs and changing global climate landscape, the Government of India has identified new areas to achieve higher levels of penetration of Renewable energy by proposing certain Amendments to Energy Conservation Act, 2001. The main objective will be to enhance demand for renewable energy at the end- use sectors such as Industry, buildings, transport etc.
World’s Largest Hydrogen Fuel Cell Power Plant
The world’s largest hydrogen fuel cell power plant capable of providing electricity to some 250,000 households per year was put into operation in South Korea’s western port city of Incheon. The capacity of this power plant is 78.96 megawatt. Hydrogen fuel cells have the capacity to generate clean energy without harmful emissions. The project cost about 340 billion won ($292 million).

State Energy Efficiency Index (SEEI) 2020
The State Energy Efficiency Index 2020 has been developed by Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) and Alliance for an Energy Efficient Economy (AEEE). This Index has 68 indicators such as – buildings, industry, municipalities, transport, agriculture – and DISCOMs. Karnataka has topped in this index (SEEI), scoring 70 points out of 100. Rajasthan is on second rank followed by Haryana on third. Last year in SEEI 2019 ranking, Rajasthan was on top. The State Energy Efficiency Index (SEEI) 2020 was released under the Ministry of Power.
