A candidate will be selected for the post of Assistant Commandant in the three-phase of the exam. Written Exam, PFT and Medical test, etc. Candidates who successfully qualified in the written exam will be invited for the next round i.e. Physical Standards / Physical Efficiency Test and Medical Standards Test. The selected candidate who qualified for these rounds will be considered eligible for appointment to the post of Assistant Commandant. Central Armed Police Force Exam is conducted by the UPSC and UPSC offers the Post of Assistant commandant in the following forces:
- BSF (Border Security Force)
- CRPF (central reserve police force)
- CISF (Central Industrial Security Force)
- ITBP (Indo-Tibetan Border Police)
- SSB (Sashastra Seema Bal) etc

How to Apply for CAPF 2021:
The UPSC CAPF application form will be available on the official website of UPSC. Here is the step by step procedure given to apply online:
- Go to the official website of UPSC is www.upsc.gov.in
- The application process of UPSC CAPF will be completed in 2 parts i.e. Part A, & Part B.
- Part-A is an online registration process in which candidates have to register themselves for the exam.
- On successful registration, Registration ID and password will be generated.
- In the second part of the application process, the applicants will have to log in with Registration ID and Password i.e., Date of Birth, and then proceed to fill the details in the application form.
- Candidates need to provide all the details correctly in the CAPF application form.
- Candidates need to pay the application fee as well at the time of the submission of the application form.
- You may need to pay Application fees, Which must be paid by the candidates through the Visa/Master Credit/Debit card.
CAPF Written Exam Pattern:
There are two papers in the Central Armed Police Forces Written Examination. The Exam pattern of the both paper will be a bot different:
- Paper-I for 250 marks. It consists of General Mental Ability and Intelligence test.
- The maximum duration for the paper is 2 hours.
- The maximum number of questions asked in the paper is 125 Objective type questions.
- There is a 1/3 negative penalty for each wrong answer.
- Paper-II, it consists of General Studies, Essay, and Comprehension Test.
- The maximum duration of the paper is 2 hours.
- It is just a conventional type of paper for which a total of 200 marks are awarded.
- Those who qualify this Phase-1 of the examination are sent to Phase-II.

As per the official announcement, the Exam will be conducted on 8th August 2021.
There is no said limits on attempts. One can appear for the CAPF Examination till the age of 25 years old. There are some relaxation has been given to the OBC and SC/ST regarding age.
In the CAPF Paper one 1/3 marks will be deducted for each wrong attempt.
Yes, There is no restriction in the CAPF Examination regarding Gender.
For General candidates 25 years old and for OBC, there is 3 years of relaxation and for SC/ST 5 years of relaxation in Age.
