India was fifth largest recipient of FDI in 2020: UN Report
World Investment Report 2021 published by the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), India was the fifth-largest recipient of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) inflows in the world in 2020. India received USD 64 billion FDI in 2020, which is an increase of 27 per cent, over USD 51 billion inflows in 2019.
The United States remained the largest recipient of FDI with $156 billion, although, the FDI inflow to the country decreased by 40 per cent, in 2020. China was the second-largest recipient with USD 149 billion FDI. The global FDI flows decreased by 35 per cent in 2020 to USD 1 trillion from USD 1.5 trillion in 2019.
Laurel Hubbard: 1st Trans Olympian
Weightlifter Laurel Hubbard has selected by New Zealand Olympic Committee (NZOC) to contest women’s +87 kg category. Weightlifter will be the first transgender athlete to compete at Olympics.
Laurel Hubbard had competed in men’s weightlifting competitions before gender transition in 2013. International Olympic Committee In 2015 issued guidelines to allow any transgender athlete to compete as woman on the condition that their testosterone levels are below 10 nanomoles per litre for at least 12 months before they take part in first competition.
Israel successfully tests airborne high-power Laser
An airborne high-power laser has successfully tested by Israeli military which have the capability to shoot down drones. This system had 90 % interception rate against thousands of rockets which were fired from Gaza during 11-day war of May 2021.
