Earlier the candidates do not join the Indian Armed forces because the Time duration of the duty was so long. A person has to work in the service for at least till the age of 45 years to get a pension from the service and the maximum time duration was 60 years.  Later the Indian Army launched the Short Service Commission in the Service.  In the Short Service Commission (SSC) A candidate will serve for the minimum time duration of 8 years which is expandable up to the 14 years.
