VICE ADMIRAL R HARI KUMAR TO BE THE NEXT CHIEF OF NAVAL STAFF
Vice Admiral R Hari Kumar, PVSM, AVSM, VSM, ADC who is the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief Western Naval Command is to be the next Chief of the Naval Staff.
Government of India has declared that Vice Admiral R Hari Kumar would take over the post on the afternoon of 30th of November 2021.
The present Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Karambir Singh, PVSM, AVSM, ADC is to retire on the 30th of November.
Vice Admiral R Hari Kumar was born on 12th of April,1962. He was commissioned on the 1st of January in the year 1983 to the Executive Branch of the Indian Navy.
His journey of service in the Indian Navy is as long as 39 years. During his years of service, he has served in a number of commands, staff and instructional appointments.
His sea command includes INS Nishank, Missile Corvette, INS Kora and Guided Missile Destroyer INS Ranvir. Indian Navy’s Aircraft Carrier INS Viraat had also been under his command.
He has also served as the Fleet Operations Officer of the Western Fleet. Before he took charge as Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief Western Naval Command he was the Chief of Integrated Defence Staff to the Chairman, Chiefs of Staff Committee.
Vice Admiral R Hari Kumar has pursued courses at the Naval War College (US), Army War College (MHOW) and Royal College of Defence Studies(UK).
He is decorated with PVSM (Param Vishisht Seva Medal) ,AVSM ( Ati Vishisht Seva Medal) and VSM (Vishisht Seva Medal).
