Vice Admiral Puneet K Bahl was appointed as the new Commandant of the INA (Indian Naval Academy) Kannur Ezhimala on 26 December 2021. Vice Admiral Puneet K Bahl was commissioned for the first time in his Navy on 1 July 1984. At this time he was selected as a flying officer. Vice Admiral Bahl completed his studies at National Defense Academy Khadakwasla. In addition, he completed his service staff course at DSSC Wellington.
He completed the Naval Higher Command course from the College of Naval Warfare Mumbai. During his service, he was an experienced maritime reconnaissance pilot. During this, he gave his service in six different types of aircraft. He has experience in operating Op Tasha and Op Vijay. He was an active participant in their flight operations. Apart from this, he also has the experience of a qualified ship diver. In his service, he has received many medals in many challenging operations, staff, and training assignments.

Service in the Navy of Vice-Admiral Puneet K Bahl:-
Punit K Bahl received his appointment in the Indian Navy on 1 July 1984. Since then till now he has given his best contribution to the Indian Navy. Many works done by him in the Indian Navy are notable. He has flown in aircraft on INS Vikrant, Betwa, Sujata, and Porbandar. Along with this, he has also served in INS Garuda, INS Rajli, AFS Yelahanka and CGS 700 during his tenure on the ship. He has also served as the Guiding Staff at the Indian Naval Headquarters. During this time he was working as Directing Staff at DSSC Wellington and JDNAS (Aviation Planning) in training and staff assignments.
While serving as the Guiding Staff at Naval Headquarters, he successfully handled the induction of aircraft into the Navy. And also improved the naval aviation perspective and infrastructure plans. During his stint in command, he also served for the Guided Missile Fregate INS Betwa, Offshore Patrol Vessel, INS Sujata, and INS Raji. While taking over the command of Rajli, he also successfully oversaw the smooth induction and operation of P8i aircraft. Let us tell you that INS Betwa, Sujata, and Rajli are some of the major political airports of the country. Because of his commanding tenure, he was also awarded the Unit Citation by the Chief of Naval Staff.
He was promoted to flag rank in January 2015. Thereafter, he was appointed to the Flying Officer Commanding of the ACID (WSOI) Goa Naval Area at New Delhi. Thereafter, he was posted as Flag Officer Naval Aviation in Goa, Flag Officer Commanding (Maharashtra Naval Area) in Mumbai, and Chief Staff Officer.
Flying Commanding Officer K Bahl was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on 1 January 2021. He assumed his position as Director-General of Project Seabird.
Vice Admiral K Bahl received medals during service.
As a Naval Flying Officer, Vice-Admiral Puneet K Bahl was awarded Ati Vishisht Seva Medal in the year 2020, Vishisht Seva Medal in 2015, Chief of the Naval Staff in 2005. Apart from this; he was also awarded the Lentenagne Medal in DSSC Wellington in 1998.
