Supreme Court grants Permanent Commission to Women in Armed Forces:
The Hon’ble Supreme Court has been knowing for giving historical Decisions for the welfare of the nation. recently the Supreme Court Grants PC to Women in the Indian Armed Forces. Earlier the women in the Indian Armed forces like Indian Air force, Indian Navy and Indian Army, etc were only allowed to have Short ServiceCommission. The Short Service Commission is basically a duty period of 10-14 years only after this one will get retired from the service.
The Supreme Court has now decided to give the permanent commission to the women of Indian Armed forces. It is a historic decision taken by the Supreme court. Now the women will get equal rights, pension, a retirement bonus, etc and all the benefits that men get in the Indian Armed forces as permanent Commission.
Permanent commission for Women in Indian Army to be opened From April-2020
The Central Government of India were stood against this, The Central Government stated that the women are not capable of the war zone situation and they also have to deal with the pregnancy, motherhood and family obligation, etc. The Central Government also said that the Women are emotionally weeks as compared to the men. As per the Central Government, the women should not get the permanent commission in the Indian Armed forces.
The Supreme Court said These all the Arguments which have been done that are completely based on gender partiality. The Opposition (Central Government) failed to give any valid reason for this.
The Supreme Court has also said that the women have done a lot for the Nation being Commissioned as Short Service. If the women get the Permanent Commission in the Indian Armed Forces they can do better.
Earlier this verdict was in the Delhi High Court and the Court has denied giving stay on Permanent commission for women in the Indian Armed Forces. In the year 2010, the Central Government decided to give the permanent commission to the women but there were some criteria of giving that.
The Central Government allowed the women to get the permanent commission in some branches with some eligibility criteria. Later this matter moved to the Supreme Court and on Monday the Supreme Court given the Historical Decision over this said-
The Women officers have done well in the Indian Armed Forces and they have also served well in the operation areas where they get posted and have worked under the capacity of 14-15 years. The Court also said that women can also do more better in this field if they are given more chances and more facilities that men get.

Many women officers have said this decision will boost Women’s empowerment. The women who get posted as the permanent commission, they would have more responsibility. Now the women are eligible to join any branch of the Indian Armed Forces.
