There are many ways to join the Indian Navy service, The Indian Navy Sports quota entry is also one way by which you can join the Service. To join the Indian navy though this entry, A candidate must match with the following criteria, etc. Now let’s see the eligibility criteria which are required to apply for this.
There is total of 3 posts for which a candidate can apply and Eligibility Criteria are different for each of them. Those following posts are:
- Direct Entry Pretty Officer
- Senior Secondary Recruits (SSR)
- Matrix recruits (MR)

Eligibility for Navy Sports Quota 2020:
This entry is basically for the sportsman, who wants to make their career in the Indian Navy as a Sailor or Direct entry Pretty officer. Here are the several Eligibility Criteria for this:
Direct Entry Pretty Officer:
- A candidate must have pass 10+2 from any recognized Board.
- Candidate should have participated in the International or National or state level sports Tournaments etc.
- He/she should have attained 6th position in National (seniors) and in National (Juniors) or 3rd position in the Inter-university meets.
- Age Limit: The age of the candidate must be between 17 to 22 years old.
Senior Secondary Recruits (SSR):
- A candidate must have pass 10+2 from any recognized Board.
- Candidate should have participated in the International or National or state level sports Tournaments etc.
- Age Limit: The of the candidates must be between 17 to 21 years old.
Matrix Recruits (MR):
- A candidate must have passed 1oth from any recognized board (State or Central).
- Candidate must have participated in International or National or State level sports.
- Age Limit: The Age of the candidates must be between 17 to 21 years old.

Selection procedure in the Sports Quota:
The selection of the candidates will be done on the basis of the trail designated at the Naval Centres. The candidate who will qualify the trial will proceed for the Medical tests at the Military hospitals.
There would not be any written exam or Interview, a candidate will directly selected through the trial and then will appear for the Medical tests.
Indian Navy Sports Quota Notification 2020:
Indian Navy has released the vacancy for the candidates to join the Indian Navy as a Sailor through the Sports Quota Entry. All the eligible candidates can apply for this entry. You can check your eligibility according to your choice. I have given above all the details regarding the eligibility criteria of each post.
Candidates who have participated in International or Junior or Senior National or Senior State or All India University Championships in Athletics, Squash, Handball, Hockey, Kabaddi, Volleyball, Weightlifting, Wrestling, Best Physique, Fencing, Golf, Tennis, Kaya & Canoeing, Rowing, Shooting, Sailing & Wind Surfing, etc. they are all eligible to apply for this.
To apply for this, All the eligible candidates can send their application to the secretary, Indian Navy Sports Control Board. If your application gets selected by the selection board only then you will be eligible to appear for the trail.
