Medical Standards for NDA
The NDA exams are conducted by UPSC twice every year for induction of candidates in the three wings of the Indian Armed Forces, i.e. the Army, the Navy and the Airforce. The selection process of NDA comprises of a written exam followed by SSB interview along with medical tests. The recommended candidates by the Service Selection Boardundergo a medical test conducted by a board of service medical officers. To appear for the exams, the aspirants need to fulfil many requirements set by UPSC, which includes age criteria and medical standards for NDA.

Other Medical Requirement by Candidates – Medical Standards for NDA –
- There should be no symptoms or any sort of organic disease of the heart and blood vessels.
- Candidate’s Blood pressure should be normal.
- Urine sample of the candidate will be tested and if any abnormality is detected, it will be a cause for rejection.
- Hernias, if not operated properly will make a candidate unfit. In case of operated Hernia, a minimum of 6 months has to pass prior to final medical examination before commencement of the course.
- There should be no signs of piles.
- Any disease of skin which is likely to cause disability or disfigurement will also be considered as a cause for rejection.
- There should be no enlargement of liver or spleen.
- Any evidence of disease of internal organs of the abdomen will be a cause for rejection.
- Candidate should not have any past history of mental breakdown or fits.
- No bony deformities like chest wall deformities, Elbow deformities, Finger deformities Knock Knee, Bowlegs and deformities of feet and toes should be present.
Hearing ability standards– Medical Standards for NDA
The hearing should be normal with no sign of any operated anomalies. A candidate should be able to hear a forced whisper with each ear at a distance of 610 centimeters in a quiet room. There should be no evidence of present or past disease of the ear, nose and throat. Audiometric test will be done for AF. Audio metric hearing loss should not be greater than 20 db in frequencies between 250 and 8000 Hz. There is no impediment of speech.

NOTE: Candidates who wear spectacles permanently are not eligible for air force

Dental Health – Medical Standards for NDA
The candidates should have healthy gums and teeth and should not be suffering from severe pyorrhea. A minimum of 14 dental points are acceptable. When 32 teeth are present, the total dental points are 22.

- Running 2.4 km in 15 minutes
- Skipping
- Pushups and sit ups ( minimum 20 each )
- Chin ups ( minimum 08 )
- Rope climbing
