The Indian Military Academy (also known as IMA) is an officer training academy of the Indian Army located in Dehradun. It was established in 1932. From a class of 40 gentleman cadets in 1932, IMA now trains over approximately 400 gentleman cadets in a batch, with the total strength of the institution being 1650. As per the recent news. The Indian Military academy has got new commander.
Lieutenant General Harinder Singh is the top Indian Army commander based in Leh who has led the Indian response in the Line of Actual Control (LAC) dispute with China in eastern Ladakh. He was on duty at LAC for one year tenure. One year tenure has been over and now he will move out and take charge of the forceās military academy.

Meanwhile, incumbent Lieutenant General Harinder Singh will take over as the commandant of the Indian Military Academy (IMA). Lt Gen Harinder has completed his one year tenure and would be moving to the Indian Military Academy in Dehradun from there. He is being replaced by Lieutenant General PG K Menon, who is currently posted as Additional Director General of the Complaints Advisory Board (CAB) at Army Headquarters. He is in charge of the service redressal system and reports directly to Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane.

Lt Gen Menon was also part of the recent Corps Commander-level meet between the Indian and Chinese armies. But Lt Gen Singh had been solely engaged in negotiations with the Chinese in five consecutive Corps Commander-level meetings. He also had been from day one looking after each and every movement of the force at the Line of Actual Control.
It was only during the sixth round of talks on September 21 that Lt Gen Menon joined the negotiation team to discuss a resolution in the five-month-long standoff with China in eastern Ladakh.

The 14 Corps Commander is also involved in the military talks which are held with the Chinese to resolve the issue between both countries in that sector.
