India re-elected to UN Human Rights Council

India has been re-elected to the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) for a sixth term on October 14, 2021. The new three-year term of India will be effective from January 2022 to December 2024. India got 184 votes of the 193 votes cast in the election.

Varanasi to become first Indian city to use ropeway services for public transportation

Varanasi city of Uttar Pradesh is set to become the first city in India to use ropeway services in public transportation. Overall, Varanasi will be the third city in the world after Bolivia and Mexico City to use ropeway in public transportation. The total cost of the ropeway project is Rs 424 crore &it cover distance of 4.2 km be in just 15 minutes.
Seven new defence companies, carved out of OFB: Ministry of Defence

In addition of Aatmnirbharat move Ministry of Defence initiated new move with Seven new defence companies, carved out of Ordnance Factory Board (OFB), were dedicated to the Nation at a function organised by Ministry of Defence on the occasion of ‘Vijayadashami’ in New Delhi on October 15, 2021. This will enhance functional autonomy, efficiency and unleash new growth potential & innovation, Government had decided to convert OFB from a Government Department into seven 100 per cent Government-owned corporate entities as a measure to improve self-reliance in the defence preparedness of the country. This decision was pending in the last 20 years.
The seven new Defence companies are:
Munitions India Limited (MIL)
Armoured Vehicles Nigam Limited (AVANI)
Advanced Weapons and Equipment India Limited (AWE India)
Troop Comforts Limited (TCL) (Troop Comfort Items)
Yantra India Limited (YIL)
India Optel Limited (IOL)
Gliders India Limited (GIL).
