The Combined Defense Service Examination is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission twice in a year. Through this exam, A candidate will get selected in the Indian Armed forces as an officer, A candidates are free to choose any forces like Indian Army, Indian Navy and Indian Air force, etc if you clear the declared cutoff of each force.
The training of the CDS Cadet would completely Depend on the wings that they would choose. If they choose the Indian Air force, their training will be done at the Air force Academy. If they choose the Indian Army, their training would be done at the Indian Military Academy. If they choose, Indian Navy their training would be done at the Indian Naval academy.

NDA Training Procedure and Duration after Selection in NDA
Air force Academy:
The Air force Academy is for the training of the Indian Air force officers. Right after the selection of the candidates through the Combined Defense Service Examination (CDSE). A candidate will undergo the training for 24 months in the Air force Academy. Starting 6 months of the training would be a basic military training and after that, the training would depend on your selected branch-like Flying branch, technical branch, and Ground Duty Branch. The training duration would be only for 24 months and after the training, a candidate will be posted as Flying Officer in their respected branch.
Indian Military Academy:
A Candidate who choose the Indian Army as their First Choice in the Combined Defense Service. Their training would be done at the IMA (Indian Military Academy). The Training duration is 24months and after that, they will be posted as Lieutenant in the Indian Army.
At the I.M.A. Army Cadets are known as Gentlemen Cadets and in these 24 months of training, they are given strenuous military training for a period of one year aimed at turning them into officers capable of leading infantry Sub-units. On successful completion of training, Gentlemen Cadets have granted Permanent The commission in the rank of Lt subject to being medically fit.
Indian Naval Academy:
After clearing the written Exam, SSB Interview and Medical Tests of the combined defense service examination. If you choose the Indian navy. you will have your training at the Indian Naval Academy. he Naval cadets are selected for the Executive Branch of the Navy, on passing out from the Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala for a period of two years on successful completion of which they are promoted to the rank of Sub Lieutenants.
The training process in CDS:
A few days of starting will be all about your fitness and diet and morning exercise at 4am. They will also teach you about military subjects. After few days you will start your Basic Military Training in the guidance defense personnel’s in which you will be taught about the Weapons used in the war and how to use those weapons etc. you will be trained so hard in this so that you can prepare for the next training. In these three academies, You will be trained for 2 years. And here you will be trained about your duties, about your responsibility, etc. after the pass this successfully there would be Passing Out parade after this you will be posted as officer in your respected branch.
