Indian Army Soldier Physical and Medical Standard:

There is a total three-phase of selection in order to become a Soldier in the Indian Army. After the application form, A candidate will appear for the physical fitness test and those who would clear this will proceed for the Medical Examination and then Written Examination, etc.

Indian Army Soldier Selection Process and Eligibility Criteria

Physical Standard for Army Soldiers:

Here is the list of Physical Eligibility that is required to have to clear the Physical Fitness Test.

  • The Minimum height Required is 157 cm
  • The minimum weight required is 60 kg.
  • The chest must be 80 cm without expansion and it should be at least 85 with expansion.
  • 14 dental Points are essentially required.
  • Your body should not carry any genetic disease like joint knees, color blindness, or night blindness.
  • Your elbow should not be turned in the outer direction for more than 15 degrees.
  • Your joint and your bones should be completely fine.
  • Any severe body fracture in any body part can cause permanent rejection.

How to prepare myself for Medical Examination

Eyesight Required:

  • Your eyesight must be 6/6 without glasses.
  • If you are wearing glasses it should not be worse than 6/12.
  • Limits for myopia 0.75D and for Hypermetropia +1.5D
  • Binocular vision III
  • Limits for colour perception I
  • Should not have colour blindness or night blindness.

If you match with the given eligibility Criteria, you will proceed for the Physical Fitness Test that is conducted by the Army Selection Board.

Army Physical Fitness Test:

In the Physical fitness test of the Indian Army, One will appear for this following activities:

  • 1.6 km Running to be completed in 5 min 30 sec.
  • Balancing Beam (Under Grip ) minimum 6.
  •  Normal Pushups minimum 6
  • 9 Fit Ditch Jumps
  • Zig-Zag balance

After this round, All the selected candidates will proceed for the Medical Examination. The medical tests plays an important role in selection. A minor problem can be a reason for rejection.

Type of Medical Test in Defence Examination.

Medical Test of Army Soldier:

In the Medical Examination of the Indian Army GD soldiers, One will appear for these following tests. Here is the list of check-ups that one will go through:

  • Chest X-ray for your lungs.
  • Ultrasound for kidney stones.
  • The liver problem will be checked
  • Blood test
  • Urine test

These are the few tests that one will have to go through. A candidate will also have to appear for the physical fitness Activities. If the candidate is applying for the Soldiers, he will have to clear the Physical Fitness test of the  Army GD India.

Medical Criteria of Indian Army:

Applicants declared permanent medically unfit by any Armed Forces Hospital in previous recruitment for the same entry in the Army are advised not to appear for the test. How to be fit for Army Medical Test:

There is no special remedy to be fit in a day for the medical exam. You will need to take care of your body. There are also some academy that offers pre-medical examination and it would be very helpful for you if you have your medical exam done before applying or before the real medical examination. There is no Magical tips to clear medical test. You will have to prepare for this at least a year before. In this unhealthy environment. I would suggest to have done Pre-Medical Test. You would have complete idea about your problem. Start eating healthy, Start working out and have proper sleep of 7 to 8 hours.

What if I get rejected in the Army Soldier Medical Test?

If you have any minor problem and can be corrected within 6 months, you may get temporary medical rejection from the board. But if you are permanently rejected by the board. There is no way to get back.
