First Apache Helicopter formally handed over to The IAF
Great News for the Indian Air Force! Apache Helicopter have now been formally delivered to the IAF. On 10th May 2019, these First AH-64E (I) – Apache helicopter were handed to the IAF in Mesa, Arizona, USA. From the Indian Air Force, Air Marshal AS Butola accepted the first Apache at Boeing production facility. US government representatives were also present at the facility.
This contract was signed by the IAF with the US government and Boeing Ltd. in Sep 2015 for 22 Apache Helicopter. By Jul this year, the first batch of these Guardian Helicopters is scheduled to be shipped to India. In order to lead various operations of the Apache fleet in the IAF, only selected aircrew and ground crew have undergone numerous trainings at the training facilities at US Army base Fort Rucker, Alabama.
The induction of AH-64 E (I) helicopter in the IAF is a paramount step towards increasing the strength and security of the helicopter’s fleet. These Apache helicopter will provide a significant edge in any future joint operations in support of land forces. The helicopter has the capability to carry out accurate attacks at stalemate ranges and operate in belligerent airspace with threats from ground.
