New Naval Chief is now Admiral Hari Kumar, he replace Admiral Karambir Singh, who has been at the helm for two years, retired from service. Admiral Hari was an alumnus of the National Defence Academy and was commissioned into the Navy on January 1, 1983. In his 38-year career he has held several prestigious positions, including commanding the Coast Guard Ship C-01, Indian Naval Ships as well as being in charge of vessels like Nishank, Kora, Ranvir and Aircraft Carrier INS Viraat.
During his service for the navy, he serves at higher posts like Command Gunnery Officer at HQ Western Naval Command, Naval Advisor to Government of Seychelles, UN Mission in Somalia (UNOSOM II) at Mogadishu and Training Commander, INS Dronacharya.
Admiral Hari Kumar has taken charge of the navy at a time when the service is in the midst of several critical inductions including an aircraft carrier, warships, submarines and modern helicopters to bolster its combat potential.
He has also assumed the responsibility amid changing power dynamics in the Indian Ocean Region where the Chinese navy is seeking to increase its footprint.

His responsibility during this time is more, the Indian navy has to take over the Chinese navy in the south china sea. We hope that Mr Kumar will dominate for this reason and the Indian navy will emerge as the leader of the sea during his tenure.
We have some serious concerns about the Indian ocean because of chines aggressiveness in this region to acquire the TAWAN. If China does this then with TAWAN then the Indian Navy has to show its power to the Chinese navy.
