HOW TO JOIN CDS in 2022

CDS exam is conducted by Union Public Service Commission for induction of commissioned officers to Army, Navy & Air force wings of Armed Forces.

This is a national level exam held twice a year in order to provide a chance to deserving candidates who are willing to serve in defence services.

This examination has two phases where candidates first need to crack the written exam then qualified candidates are called for the second phase which is Service Selection Board (SSB) Interview.

UPSC issue guidelines for the whole selection procedure and final merit list of the recommended candidates.

After recommendation and joining the candidates has to undergo for 3 years course.

Army Cadets join Indian Military Academy (IMA) at Dehradun, Naval Cadets join Indian Naval Academy at Ezhimala.

Air Force Cadets move to the Indian Air Force Academy at Hyderabad.

Last candidates filling for OTA branch move to Officers Training Academy at Chennai.

After completing the training for one year they are commissioned as officers in their respective services.

How to join CDS in 2022?

The first phase to join in the Combined Defence forces is the written examination.

Candidates need to appear in the written examination which is conducted every twice a year by UPSC.

Second phase is the Interview or Personality Test also referred to as Intelligence Test.

Third in the selection procedure is Document Verification, candidates need to verify their real documents and at last before the joining of their respective academies for training they have to undergo for a medical examination

INDIAN  MILITARY ACADEMY	19 -24 YEARS
AIR FORCE ACADEMY	19-24 YEARS
NAVAL ACADEMY	19 – 24 YEARS
OFFICERS TRAINING ACADEMY	19-25 YEARS

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS in CDS 2022:

FOR IMA & OTA (CHENNAI):

Candidate should passes intermediate and graduation from a recognised board or university.

FOR INDIAN NAVAL ACADEMY:

Candidate should passes intermediate and graduation from a recognised board or university.

FOR AIR FORCE ACADEMY:

Candidate should passes intermediate and graduation degree of a Recognised University (with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level) or Bachelor of Engineering

SELECTION PROCEDURE:

Applying candidates have to clear three stages of this examination in order to get selected. The details of all the three stages are given below:

• Medical

For Indian Military Academy, Naval Academy and Air Force Academy –

SSB Interview:

Services Selection Board (SSB) is commission that assesses the candidates, becoming officers into the Indian Armed Forces.

The board evaluates the suitability of the candidate for becoming an officer using a standardised protocol of evaluation system which constitutes personality, intelligence tests, and interviews.

There are three techniques of assessing namely:

1. Psychological Testing
2. Interview Testing
3. Group Testing

SSB comprises the panel of assessors, who are officers in the Indian Armed Forces and having their specialisation as Psychologist, GTO (Group Task Officer), and Interviewing Officer.

Medical Examination:

After the SSB Interview is over a merit list is prepared for the candidate who is shortlisted for the final medical examination.

The Medical examination is done in the army hospital by the authorised doctor as per the medical standards of the Forces.
