Recently, Indian Navy has got its first Made in India Advanced Light Helicopter designed and developed by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited
(HAL). It will be inducted in Indian Naval Squadron (INAS) 323.
Minister of State for Defence, Shri Shripad Naik will be commissioned the first batch of the indigenously built Advanced Light Helicopter MK III to INS Hansa Goa, on Monday.
With including this now squadrons will have three state of the art Advanced Light Helicopter, a multi role chopper with the shakti engine manufactured by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).
The Mk III version of the ALH has an all-glass cockpit and will be used for search and rescue, special operations and coastal surveillance. Six ALHs are under procurement and all the aircraft are being delivered in a phased manner, the Navy said in a statement.
Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Western Naval Command, Vice Admiral R Hari Kumar, was also present at the ceremony. HAL Chairman and managing director R Madhavan said that 19 new systems based on the requirements of the Navy and the coast guard have been added to the ALH MK III aircraft.
The aircraft, a step up from Mk 1, will be able to mitigate low visibility during search and rescue operations even at night, naval officers said on Monday.

The event will take place during the ‘Rashtra Raksha Samparpan Parv,’ which will take place from November 17 to 19 in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh.
The LCH can also be armed with an air-to-air missile and an anti-armour missile. However, both these weapons are currently missing on the LCH, and it is solely dependent on its chin-mounted gun and 70-mm rockets for offensive operations.
