TERRITORIAL ARMY SELECTION PROCEDURE
The Territorial Army emerged in 1949 after passing the Independence Territorial Army Act in 1948. The territorial army plays a vital role in the nation’s security and they work under the ministry of defence. The Territorial Army officer might be different works and their goals are different but the salary, allowances, and lifestyle is pretty much similar or can say the same as regular Army officers. I will talk about the Territorial Army officer complete selection process in this blog.
Firstly, know about your eligibility,
CONDITIONS OF ELIGIBILITY: |
(a) Nationality: Only citizens of India (male and female). |
(b) Age Limits: 18 to 42 years as on the last date of filing of application i.e. 19 August 2021. |
(c) Educational Qualifications: Graduate from any recognized university. |
(d) Physical Standards: A candidate must be physically and medically fit in all respects. |
(e) Employment: Gainfully Employed. (Central Govt. / State Govt. / Semi Govt. / PSU / Pvt. Sector / Self Employed / Own Business) |
Note: Serving members of the Regular Army/ Navy/ Air Force/ Police/ GREF/ Para Military and like forces are not eligible. |

SELECTION PROCEDURE

1- Candidates whose application forms are found correct will be called for screening (written exam followed by interview only if passed in written exam) by a Preliminary Interview Board (PIB) by the respective Territorial Army Group Headquarters
2- Successful candidates will further undergo tests at a Service Selection Board (SSB) and Medical Board for final selection.
3-Vacancies of male and female candidates will be determined as per organizational requirement

The standard of the papers in Elementary Mathematics will be a Matriculation level. The standard of papers in other subjects will approximately be such as may be expected of a graduate of an Indian university. Territorial Army Recruitment 2021: Qualifying Marks Minimum 40% marks in each part of the paper separately and overall average of 50%.
ABOUT SSB INTERVIEW PROCEDURE
SSB Interview process is divided into two categories –
Stage 1 and Stage 2.
Stage-I of SSB:-
This Stage Involves Officer Intelligence Rating and Picture Perception & Description Test
Stage-2 of SSB:-
- Psychology include Thematic Appreciation Test (TAT), Word Association Test (WAT), Situation Reaction Test (SRT), Self Description Test (SD)
- GTO include Group Discussion (GD), GPE or MPE (group/military planning exercise), Progressive group task (PGT), Snake Race/Group Obstacle Race, Individual Lecturette (IO), Half Group Task (HGT), Individual Obstacles, Command task, Final Group Task (FGT)
- Personal Interview
- Conference
EMBODIMENT FOR TRAINING:-
- One month basic training in the first year of commission.
- Two months annual training camp every year including the first year.
- Three months Post Commissioning training within first two years at OTA, Chennai.
