The CDS exam is a permanent commission service conducted at the graduation level. On the basis of which selected candidates have to serve in the army in the commission post (Lieutenant). The exam pattern is mentioned in the points given below.

• In the CDS examination, the examination is conducted for the Indian Military, Indian Navy, and the Air Force Academy.
• The exam consists of 2 parts. The first part was for IMA, INA, AFA and the second part was for Officer Training Academy.
• 300 multiple choice questions are asked for the IMA, INA, and AFA exams, and 200 multiple choice questions are asked in the Officer Training Academy.
• Each part has a 1-1 mark for each question.
• Each examination has a duration of 120 minutes.
• As a negative marking, 0.33 marks are deducted for each wrong answer.
• IMA, INA, and AFA examinations ask questions of English, General Knowledge, and General Mathematics.
• English and General Knowledge questions are asked in the examination of Officer Training Academy (OTA).
• There are definite 100-100 questions from each subject of both exams.
• SSB interview is conducted after the written test.
