37th RAISING DAY OF NATIONAL SECURITY GUARD
The National Security Guard (NSG) force, popularly known as Black Cats, observes its Raising Day on October 16, every year. The year 2021 marks the 37th RAISING DAY OF NATIONAL SECURITY GUARD . NSG is an elite counter-terrorism unit under the Indian Ministry of Home Affairs
The 16th day of October marks the raising day of NSG(NATIONAL SECURITY GUARD). The year 2021 marks the 37th anniversary of the raising day of NSG. NSG is popularly known as “BLACK CATS”.
THE NSG is a unit under the Indian Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).This is an elite counter terrorism unit founded on 22nd of September in the year 1986.NSG was founded under the National Security Guard Act 1986.
It was raised with the aim to combat terrorist activities and to provide safety to states against internal disturbances.
NSG states it’s mission as follows:
“Train, equip and keep in readiness a special force capable of swiftly and effectively combating terrorism to live up to its motto Sarvatra Sarvottam Suraksha“.
DIRECTOR GENERAL
M A Ganapathy (DOB: 01-03-1964) is an Indian Police Service officer of the 1986 batch of Uttarakhand cadre, now serving as the Director General, National Security Guard.He has previously served as Director General of Bureau of Civil Aviation Security and Director General of Police, Uttarakhand.
BLACK CAT CAR RALLY
Talking about the black cats, I shall also talk about the Black Cat Car Rally. This was a nationwide car rally called as SUDARSHAN BHARAT PARIKRAMA (NSG BLACK CAT CAR RALLY) to celebrate 75 years of independence. This rally was a part of “AZADI KA AMRIT MAHOTSAV” and was flagged off from the Red Fort, New Delhi on 2nd of October by Hon’ble Union Minister AMIT SHAH.
