Success Story: NDA 149 Recommended Candidates 19 SSB Allahabad

Bholeshwar Saraswat’s 5-Day SSB Interview Experience

Hey Everyone! This is Bholeshwar Saraswat. I cleared my NDA 149 SSB Interview on the 24th of August and got recommended by 19 SSB Allahabad. Today I will be sharing my 5-day SSB Experience and my Success Story. I hope you find it both motivational and interesting.

So let’s dive in!

My SSB Interview dates for NDA 149 were from 20th to 24th August 2022. Originally I am from the outskirts of Mathura, Uttar Pradesh. I used to live with my father in Alwar, Rajasthan. But after my father’s death in 2008 I shifted to Amroha, UP with my brother and mother to my maternal family.

I was very studious till my class 10th, and then my height was just 5 ft which was less that the minimum requirement for the Indian Armed Forces. So to increase my height, I started playing sports. And gradually developed an interest in football and from class 11th I was involved in football.

I passed my Class 12th at the age of 16 and my education in class 2nd directly and skipped Nursery and Kindergarten in the initial years of my life. I was always good at my studies.

Initially, I was only into football. In my first attempt at the SSB Interview, I didn’t do well at all. Then after my exams in November, my mother asked me to seriously began my preparation for the SSB Interview. Then I took admitted to major Kalshi Classes. It is the best NDA coaching in India. I started my preparation with MKC from December to March and finally achieved my goal of NDA 149 recommendation.

What is my strategy for the NDA written exam?

MKC helped me a lot in practising questions from English, Maths and GAT. According to me, one should focus on maths to clear the National Defence Academy written exam. Clear your concepts as the Maths portion is easy but is time taking that prevents candidates from attempting more questions and getting a higher score. English should not be taken lightly. In maths practice is important and similarly, in GAT, revision plays a crucial role.

Another thing that students must take care of is focusing on their strong parts. For example, if you are from a science background history and geography are not your strengths. Instead focus on Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

I mainly focused on the PCM and some general questions in English helped me clear my NDA written examination.

My 5-Day SSB Experience

Let’s begin with Day 1 screening at the SSB Interview. To get screened in you must practise more on OIR. In the story,Β  try to make simple and easy-to-understand stories.

In narration, you should be confident. Then in psychology, the pictures I practised in Major Kalshi Classes were much similar to the ones asked in the SSB Interview. So, that made my journey quite easy. A few stories I could not complete. In WAT also I could not complete a few words. I attempted all 60 and complete 35 SRTs. Self-description should be planned well in advance to save time. So that you can complete your leftover tasks.

I was not very good with TAT but MKC helped me a lot.

Then came my interview. It went on for a long time. The First 15-20 minutes were all about my name, what is the meaning of my name and then why is Lord Shiva known as Bholeshwar. My answer was, that he blesses his devotees really quick by thinking of the consequences and hence is known as Bholeshwar.

Then they asked about my father and my marks in classes 11 and 12. I told them that I was more focused on football because my height was small and it increased because of the outdoors. Then they asked me why did you stop playing football? Then there was a genuine reason, I saw one of my seniors seriously injured and I could not afford that, being the eldest son in the family.

How was my GTO?

When I used to practise group discussion at MKC. It became more like a debate for me. But I improved as the mentors at MKC gave me feedback and individual guidance. Then they told me not to debate. So there I kept calm and had limited narration and focused more on quality.

My GTO didn’t go well and was mainly about men and resource handling and it is a group task. I was called two times for Command Task.

My Conference

My conference was the most memorable part of the SSB Interview. They gave me a situation, suppose we are a team and because of you our team is losing, tell me what will you choose. I said 4-3-1-2. It’s half time what will you do as a captain. I said we will a 2 striker.

A lot of questions were from football and then the result was announced. I was the last one to get selected. It was declared in descending order.
