SSC GD Job Profile
SSC GD is initially posted as the guard or an escort. GD Constable is recruited to supervise all the tasks and duties in the absence of Sub- Inspector and Assistant Sub-Inspector.
Some of the SSC GD Constables may even get the cases for investigations. SSC GD Constables are supposed to work under the supervision of the SHO, and it is mandatory for them to follow the SHO’s instructions.

Promotion Criteria:

SSC GD Selection Process:
The Selection of the candidates will be done through three phases of selection. One will have to appear for the following phases of selection to get shortlisted for the All India Rank.
- Computer-Based Online Test
- Physical Efficiency Test
- Medical Examination etc
On the basis of their performance in Computer Based Examination, candidates will be shortlisted for Physical Efficiency Test by the Commission. Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Physical Standard Test (PST) will be conducted at various centres finalized by the CAPFs.
SSC GD Salary & Promotion Criteria – FAQs
Ans. The initial salary of a General Duty Constable is Rs. 23,527 per month with basic pay of Rs. 21,700 to Rs. 69,100. There is also some extra pay after salary that is not included.
Ans. In order to get selected, One will need to clear the Written Examination, Computer Based Examination Medical Examination etc.
Ans. A candidate must be at least 10th passed and age must be between 18 years old to 23 years old. There are some relaxations in the age for OBC and SC/ST categories.
