Today we are talking about Subedar Major Yogendra Singh Yadav, the hero of the battle fought in Tiger Hill area of the Kargil war. Yogendra Singh Yadav joined the Kargil War and was only 19 years old then. During this young age, he displayed bravery in the Kargil War and was awarded the highest gallantry award, the Param Vir Chakra, at the age of just 19. In 1996, at the age of 16, he joined the 18 Grenadiers Battalion of the Indian Army.

Indian Army great Award ParamVir Chakra winner Subedar Major Yogendra Singh Yadav is retiring from Army. He received his retirement from the Indian Army on Saturday. He was honoured as an Honorary Captain by the President of India Ram Nath Kovind on the 75th Independence Day celebrations. Captain Yogendra Singh Yadav is known as a hero of the Kargil War 1999. The soldiers of the army departed, giving many congratulations on their courageous work and their retirement.

Why is he considered the hero of the Kargil war:-
You must be wondering why Subedar Major Yogendra Singh Yadav is being seen as the hero of the Kargil war. This is because he climbed Tiger Hill on 4 July 1999 during the Kargil War. Tiger Hill was accompanied by Captain Vikram Batra, Lieutenant Manoj Pandey, Subedar Sanjay as well as many brave soldiers. During this, he got about 11 bullets on his body in the fight with Pakistan. But due to his courage, he did not give up his breath even during that time and kept fighting for the country. Captain Vikram Batra and Lieutenant Manoj Pandey, who accompanied him, were martyred. That only Subedar Major Yogendra Singh Yadav and Subedar Sanjay Kumar could come back.
In the family of Subedar Major Yogendra Singh Yadav, his father, SepoyRamkrishna Yadav of 11th Kumaon, fought in the war between India and Pakistan in 1965 and 1971 wars. Seeing the work done by his father, he had awakened the spirit to join the Indian Army and fight the war.
Bravery of Subedar Major Yogendra Singh Yadav:-
Very few people know the tales of this brave soldier who joined the Indian Army at the age of 16 and joined the Kargil war at the age of 19. When the Kargil War was being fought, on 4 July 1999, his Regiment 18 Grenadiers Platoon was assigned the task of capturing three strategic bunkers at Tiger Hill. During this, he started the ascent of Tiger Hill and on the way, he got 3 bullets from a Pakistani machine gun, but he continued to climb the hill. Climbing up, he threw a grenade at the Pakistan bunker, killing 4 Pakistani soldiers.
After which the other members found a way to climb the rock. He received a total of 15 bullets while completing the climb and capturing Banker. Apart from this, despite being shot in his body with two hands and hanging from tendons and skin, he remained alive. Appreciating this work done by him, he was awarded the ParamVir Chakra at the age of 19. Along with them, Captain Vikram Batra and Lieutenant Manish Pandey (posthumously), Subedar Sandeep Singh were also awarded the ParamVir Chakra.
