If your age lies between this limit then you can appear in the written exam and may clear it depending on your level of preparation.

Most of the aspirants don’t know that the NDA written exam covers entire 11th & 12th syllabus for mathematics, physics and chemistry which means that it is a golden period for 10th passed students to create a focused preparation for NDA.

About NDA Exam

The eligibility criteria for Indian army is that you must complete class 12th or its equivalent examination in any stream from a well-recognized board. As previously mentioned, the age range for NDA is 16.5 years to 19 years. NDA comprises of written test which consists of two papers- Mathematics & General Ability test. These papers will have a time limit, as well as negative marking, so you need to complete it within stipulated period of time and guess work won’t work, thus you are required to do a lot of practice.

Notification Month – Notified in July & January

Exam date- April & November

Nationality –  A candidate must either be: a citizen of India, or a subject of Bhutan, or a subject of Nepal,

Educational Qualifications –

  • For Army Wing of National Defence Academy – 12th Class pass of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination conducted by a State Education Board or a University.
  • For Air Force and Naval Wings of National Defence Academy and for the 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme at the Indian Naval Academy -12th Class pass of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent with Physics and Mathematics conducted by a State Education Board or a University.

Note – Candidates who are appearing in the 12th Class under the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination can also apply for this examination.

Selection Procedure –

  • Written Examination Conducted by UPSC
  • SSB Interview conducted by Service Selection Board of Army/Air Force/Navy

How to Apply –  Candidates are required to apply online by using the website upsconline.nic.in

Physical Standards – Candidates must be physically fit Minimum Height-157 cms (162.5 for Air Force)

Training-

  • 3 Years at National Defence Academy & 1 Year at IMA/AFA/NA
  • Candidates going for Naval Academy will be given opportunity to pursue 4 Year at B.Tech degree course at Naval Academy (Ezhimala, Kerala)
