The aspirants who have cleared 10th and 12th exams, they are about to choose a career which is challenging and adventurous so they need to be focused. Sustaining a fine physical condition, constructive frame of thought, courage and zeal to guide is important to become part of Indian Army and thus fulfilling your dreams.
For these students, somewhere along the lines of the Date of Birth, many aspirants’ fails to try for the National Defence Academy, the age limit for NDA is 16.5 to 19. If your age lies between this limit then you can appear in the written exam and may clear it depending on your level of preparation.
Golden Period to join NDA
Most of the aspirants don’t know that the NDA written exam covers entire 11th & 12th syllabus for mathematics, physics and chemistry which means that it is a golden period for 10th passed students to create a focused preparation for NDA.
Preparing for both Boards and NDA requires crucial time management which can be easily handled through our Foundation Course. Note that NDA 2/2019 is going to held on November. So, there is ample time for aspirants who have cleared their board exam.
About NDA Exam
The eligibility criteria for Indian army is that you must complete class 12th or its equivalent examination in any stream from a well-recognized board. As previously mentioned, the age range for NDA is 16.5 years to 19 years. NDA comprises of written test which consists of two papers- Mathematics & General Ability test. These papers will have a time limit, as well as negative marking, so you need to complete it within stipulated period of time and guess work won’t work, thus you are required to do a lot of practice.
Notification Month – Notified in July & January
Exam date- April & November
Nationality – A candidate must either be: a citizen of India, or a subject of Bhutan, or a subject of Nepal,
Educational Qualifications –
- For Army Wing of National Defence Academy – 12th Class pass of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination conducted by a State Education Board or a University.
- For Air Force and Naval Wings of National Defence Academy and for the 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme at the Indian Naval Academy -12th Class pass of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent with Physics and Mathematics conducted by a State Education Board or a University.
Note – Candidates who are appearing in the 12th Class under the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination can also apply for this examination.
Selection Procedure –
- Written Examination Conducted by UPSC
- SSB Interview conducted by Service Selection Board of Army/Air Force/Navy

Physical Standards – Candidates must be physically fit Minimum Height-157 cms (162.5 for Air Force)
Training-
- 3 Years at National Defence Academy & 1 Year at IMA/AFA/NA
- Candidates going for Naval Academy will be given opportunity to pursue 4 Year at B.Tech degree course at Naval Academy (Ezhimala, Kerala)
