Brahmastra Corps is the first mountain strike corps of India to counter the offensive force against China along the Actual Line of Control (LAC). And Lieutenant General Rajinder Dewan is appointed the new Commander of Brahmastra Corps. On assuming command, he exhorted all ranks to focus on operational preparedness & continue working with utmost zeal & enthusiasm. His primary focus is to tackle China at LAC.
His primary work to control the ongoing situation with china, because china claims Aksai Chin and Arunachal Pradesh. Indian and China share a length of 4,057 km border. So it is necessary to protect our territory, that’s why Lt. General Rajinder Dewan appointed as the Commander of Brahmastra Corps.

Brahmastra Corps:-
Its headquarters are located at Panagarh in West Bengal under Eastern Command. Brahmastra Corps (XVII Corps) of the Indian army is the first mountain strike corps of India which has been built as a quick reaction force and as well as counter-offensive force against China along LAC.
In 2013 Indian government decide to build the new mountain strike corps. The cop was planned to be raised to 90, 274 soldiers, and thus Rs 64,678 crore had been sanctioned. On January 1, 2014, Major General Raymond Joseph Noronha, the first commander of 17 Corps (Brahmastra Corps).
Strenght of Brahmastra Corps:-
59 Division has already been established at Panagarh. and 72 Division is now in the process of establishment at Pathankot.
Exercise Himvijay was carried out by the Brahmastra Corps in 2019 at High Altitude Areas of Arunachal Pradesh along LAC.
