CDS II 2018 Notification

Once again UPSC has proven that they are very punctual. 8th was the date they were supposed to issue the notification of CDS II 2018. And they have kept their word and the notification has been issued today. Following are some key points that the applicant must note.
Age Qualification
Table of Contents
- For IMA—Unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2nd July, 1995 andnot later than 1st July, 2000 only are eligible.
- For Indian Naval Academy—Unmarried male candidates born not earlier than2nd July, 1995 and not later than 1st July, 2000 only are eligible.
- For Air Force Academy—20 to 24 years as on 1st July, 2019 i.e. born not earlier than 2nd July, 1995 and notlater than 1st July, 1999 (Upper age limit for candidates holding valid and currentCommercial Pilot Licence issued by DGCA (India) is relaxable upto 26 yrs. i.e. bornnot earlier than 2nd July, 1993 and not later than 1st July, 1999) only are eligible.
- For Officers’ Training Academy—(SSC Course for men) unmarried malecandidates born not earlier than 2nd July, 1994 and not later than 1st July, 2000onlyare eligible.
- For Officers’ Training Academy—(SSC Women Non-Technical Course)Unmarried women, issueless widows who have not remarried and issuelessdivorcees (in possession of divorce documents) who have not remarried areeligible.They should have been born not earlier than 2nd July, 1994 and notlater than 1st July,2000.
Educational Qualifications: Graduation
- For I.M.A. and Officers’ Training Academy— Degree of a recognised Universityor equivalent.
- For Indian Naval Academy—Degree in Engineering from a recognisedUniversity/Institution.
- For Air Force Academy—Degree of a recognised University (with Physics andMathematics at 10+2 level) or Bachelor of Engineering.

Negative Marking – Yes there will be negative marking. There will be four alternatives for the answer to every question. For eachwrong answer onethird (0.33) of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted aspenalty.

SCHEME OF EXAMINATION
For Admission to Indian Military Academy, Indian Naval Academy and Air Force Academy:—
- English 2 Hours 100 Marks
- General Knowledge 2 Hours 100 Marks
- Elementary Mathematics 2 Hours 100 Marks
For Admission to Officers’ Training Academy :—
- English 2 Hours 100 Marks
- General Knowledge 2 Hours 100 Marks
Language – The questions will be both in Hindi and English
VISION:
- Objective Convergence should be ≤ 10 cm. Accommodation should be ≤ 12 cm
- Binocular Single Vision (BSV) should be at least grade-III
- Vision : Uncorrected VA 6/60 & 6/60 ; BCVA 6/6 & 6/6 ; Power ≤ -3.50 D Sph, ≤ +3.50 D Sph (including Astigmatism)
- Colour perception CP-II
The minimum acceptable height for male candidates is 157.5 cms. (157 cms for Navy and 162.5 cms for Air Force). For Women candidates minimum acceptable height is 152 cms. For Gorkhas and individuals belonging to hills of North-Eastern region of India, Garhwali and Kumaon, the Minimum acceptable height will be 5 cms less. In case of candidates from Lakshadweep, the minimum acceptable height can be reduced by 2 cms. These concessions are not applicable for Air Force. Height and Weight standards are given below for Army and Navy only. Interpolation for weights against height not mentioned may be done.

A ± 10% (for Navy) departure from the average weight given in the Table above is to be considered within normal limit. However, in individuals with heavy bones and broad built as well as individuals with thin built but otherwise healthy this may be relaxed to some extent on merit.
